After the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars, Marvel Studios has a strong contender for its next big film. Currently, all attention is on Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to premiere later this year. The movie will bring Robert Downey Jr. back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom, and will feature both familiar team-ups and new connections. Following the release of the Avengers: Doomsday trailer at CinemaCon 2026, excitement for the film significantly increased after Marvel Studios’ presentation.
Even though Avengers: Doomsday hasn’t come out yet, the Russo brothers are starting work on Avengers: Secret Wars, currently planned for release on December 17, 2027. Early planning for the film has begun, and it’s expected to significantly change the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the current Multiverse Saga. Marvel Studios has already scheduled dates for Phase 7 of its films, though the specific movies haven’t been announced. However, there’s one movie that would be the ideal follow-up to Avengers: Secret Wars.
Black Panther’s 10th Year Anniversary Re-Release Is MCU’s Perfect February 2028 Film

Marvel originally planned to start Phase 7 of the MCU two months after Avengers: Secret Wars came out in February 2028. However, they’ve now moved the start date to the summer, leaving the original timeframe open. Many fans believe a perfect film to fill that slot would be a re-release of Black Panther to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan, Black Panther was a landmark film when it premiered on February 16, 2018, and its cultural impact deserves recognition.
The film Black Panther has had a huge impact on both superhero movies and cinema as a whole. Released in 2018, it earned over $1.35 billion worldwide and received overwhelmingly positive reviews, with a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Even a decade later, it’s still considered one of the best films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Notably, Black Panther was the first superhero movie ever nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. In total, it received seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, as well as awards for Costume Design, Production Design, Original Score, the song “All the Stars,” Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing.
It’s become common for movies to be re-released in theaters to mark significant anniversaries. This is a great way to celebrate films that were culturally important when they first came out and continue to be popular today, and Black Panther is a perfect example.
