Xbox Game Pass Gets Immediate Price Cut With One Big Change

Xbox Game Pass is now cheaper, but there’s a catch. Recently, the new head of Xbox, Asha Sharma, realized the service had become too expensive. She started looking for ways to make it more affordable, and now a solution has been found. However, this change might not please everyone who subscribes.

I was so excited to see the news on the Xbox website today! They’re actually lowering the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate! It’s going down from $29.99 to $22.99 a month, which is a huge relief. PC Game Pass is also getting cheaper, dropping from $16.49 to $13.99. It’s still a little more than the old $19.99 price for Ultimate that we had until 2025, but way better than the recent $30 a month! This makes getting access to all those games much more affordable.

The only change coming to Xbox Game Pass involves Call of Duty. Microsoft has announced that new Call of Duty games will no longer be available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate the day they launch. This is a change from the past two years, when titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 were added to the service immediately. While those existing games will remain on Game Pass, future Call of Duty releases will be added to the service approximately one year after they come out.

This Is an Excellent Move for Game Pass

Overall, this is a smart move for Xbox and Game Pass. It’s good that only Call of Duty is affected by this change, because otherwise Xbox might have stopped adding any new games to Game Pass on the day they’re released. While Call of Duty fans may not be thrilled, the money saved through Game Pass will likely be more than the cost of buying a new Call of Duty game. Fans can still purchase the games individually and also keep their Game Pass subscription, and they’ll still end up saving money annually.

Game Pass will continue to be a key part of Xbox’s strategy. To encourage people to buy the new Project Helix console expected in 2027, Xbox plans to make Game Pass even more appealing. Reducing the service’s price is a significant step in achieving this and will help position Xbox for long-term success.
