The Goriest Horror Franchise Finally Returns After Three Years – Watch the Evil Dead Burn Teaser

Horror movie series have faced tough times before, like in the 1990s when audiences grew tired of so many releases. But now, in the 2020s, they’re incredibly popular again. Last year, the original film Sinners was a huge hit, and both the sixth Final Destination and fourth The Conjuring movies became the most successful films in their series. This year has continued that success, with Scream 7 also reaching a record high, and another well-known franchise has already secured a major release date for a future film.

Sony and New Line Cinema have released a first look at the upcoming Evil Dead Burn, the sixth installment in the popular Evil Dead horror series. While the original films were famous for Bruce Campbell’s character Ash Williams and their over-the-top gore, this new movie seems to be focusing on the latter. Following the success of Evil Dead Rise in 2021, the series is continuing with a fresh story, directed by Sébastien Vaniček. The studio describes Evil Dead Burn as the most intense and frightening entry in the franchise yet, and you can watch the teaser trailer below.

Evil Dead Burn Blazes a New Path for the Series

Even though Evil Dead Rise was a big hit, the next film won’t continue its story – it’s starting fresh with a new one. The movie follows a woman who is mourning her husband and goes to stay with her in-laws at their remote house. Of course, things go wrong when Kandarian demons appear and begin turning her family into Deadites. What was meant to be a comforting visit quickly turns into “a family reunion from hell.” The film stars Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two), Tandi Wright (Pearl), and Hunter Doohan (playing Muse in Daredevil: Born Again). Evil Dead Burn is set to come out this summer on July 24, 2026.

Despite its name, Evil Dead Burn doesn’t feature any fire in the initial teaser, though the full trailer—coming soon—promises plenty of it. What the teaser does show is that director Vaniček is bringing a new visual style to the Evil Dead franchise. Unlike previous films known for quick cuts and fast pacing, this teaser offers a continuous, unbroken shot. This slower, more immersive approach could make Evil Dead Burn the most frightening installment yet, allowing viewers to become completely absorbed in the horror.

A new Evil Dead movie is in development, and it will be a standalone story separate from Evil Dead Rise and Evil Dead Burn. Francis Galluppi, known for The Last Stop in Yuma County, is writing and directing Evil Dead Wrath. Filming began earlier this year with a cast including Charlotte Hope (Game of Thrones), Jessica McNamee (Mortal Kombat), Zach Gilford (Midnight Mass), and Josh Helman (X-Men: Days of Future Past). The film is expected to be released on April 7, 2028, two years after Evil Dead Burn.
