As a huge fan of Kagurabachi, March 2026 really let me down – all those anime rumors turned out to be false! This manga, created by Takeru Hokazono and launched in Weekly Shonen Jump back in September 2023, absolutely exploded onto the scene. Seriously, it went viral after just the first chapter! By October 2025, over 3 million copies were already in circulation, and it’s still growing like crazy. There’s a massive global fanbase like mine just dying for an anime adaptation. Everyone knows it’s going to happen eventually, but we’re all still holding our breath for that official announcement!
Rumors about a possible anime adaptation of Kagurabachi started on March 16th after a social media account appeared to be associated with the series, but it turned out to be a false alarm. Even trusted sources like @WSJ_manga briefly shared the incorrect information before deleting their post. However, fans now know an official announcement is coming on April 27th, 2026. @WSJ_manga also noted that web addresses for the anime and manga have been registered, suggesting the announcement is very close. While rumors have been circulating since 2024, this marks the first time the series itself has actively built hype for an announcement on this scale.
Kagurabachi Anime Is Already On a Path to Success

It’s incredibly rare for a new manga to generate this much buzz right from the start, even in a popular magazine like Shonen Jump. It’s quickly become a hit series, and an anime adaptation is sure to make it even more popular. From the very first chapter, everyone’s been watching this series closely, so an anime announcement always seemed likely, even though it took a little longer than some expected.
Talk about a possible anime adaptation started in 2024, not long after the manga first came out. This was fueled by reports that Shueisha trademarked the series for things like animation, which is a key step in getting the rights to make an anime. Fans saw this as a positive signal that an anime might actually happen.
Reports surfaced in December 2024, via Toyo Keizai, that CygamesPictures—a collaboration between CyberAgent and Shochiku Production—is developing an anime based on the manga. This news fueled the manga’s growing popularity, and an official announcement could be coming soon.
What Is Kagurabachi About?

Kagurabachi is a gripping story about revenge, family bonds, and fulfilling one’s destiny. It follows Chihiro Rokuhira, an 18-year-old, as he seeks vengeance for his father’s death. Armed with his father’s legendary sword, Chihiro sets out to hunt down the sorcerer group responsible and recover the stolen blades.
I’ve been following this manga, and it recently finished its first major story arc in February 2026. Amazingly, the second part started just a week later with a brand new storyline. The first part was split into three smaller arcs, and the last one, ‘Sword Bearer Assassination,’ was definitely the most extensive so far. The ending of the first part was a real turning point – it felt like Chihiro was finally getting closer to fulfilling his lifelong dream and becoming more like his father.
