The popular Naruto series has continued with Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, but the anime hasn’t been on air for a while. After the battle with Code, Boruto and the Hidden Leaf Village disappeared from screens as Studio Pierrot prioritized Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. Fans have been eager to find out when Boruto will return, and now there’s good news! A major event is planned for this summer that will confirm key details from the manga and also include some unexpected surprises.
To mark ten years of the Boruto manga, Weekly Shonen Jump is planning a special celebration on June 4th. This includes a fully colored first volume of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, the eighth volume overall, plus a massive 600-page guidebook covering the entire Naruto story. They’ll also release a video looking back at Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Fans are eagerly anticipating some big announcements during the celebration, with many hoping for news about a potential return of the anime series.
Naruto’s Long-Awaited Comeback

The most recent Naruto anime episode aired in 2023, featuring Boruto and Kawaki battling Code, Jigen’s successor. Although they won, the Kara Organization remains a threat, and the new arc, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, has introduced even bigger challenges for the ninja world. Currently, it’s unclear if Boruto: Naruto Next Generations will continue with new episodes, or if the story will move forward solely under the Two Blue Vortex name, but we may get updates this June.
Studio Pierrot initially announced four new episodes designed to revisit the beginning of the Naruto story, focusing on Naruto and his original Team 7. These episodes were planned for September 2023, after a break in the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations series. However, animation problems have caused a delay, and there’s currently no confirmed release date for this short series.
Pierrot has stated they’re focusing on releasing anime that aligns with specific seasons, pointing to Demon Slayer as a model. They plan to complete Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War this year and are also gearing up to restart the Black Clover anime. Fans are hoping the upcoming tenth anniversary of the Boruto manga will bring news of a new anime season, as there’s plenty of source material available for a long-running series.
