Coronation Street favourite confirmed for big soap return – on a different show

Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent has joined the cast of Hollyoaks for a “powerful storyline”.

The actress portrayed Sophie Webster, the daughter of Sally and Kevin Webster, on the ITV soap opera for 15 years, starting in 2004. She then took a break in 2019 for maternity leave.

I was so thrilled to see the announcement on her Instagram! She posted a picture from the Hollyoaks set and said she’s joining the show for a really powerful storyline. I can’t wait to see what she does!

She expressed her excitement about returning to acting with a new role, and joked that her family would be pleased she’s working full-time again.

Details of her new storyline in Hollyoaks remain under wraps.

Last year, Vincent revealed she’d be opening to returning as Sophie on Coronation Street.

She told OK! Magazine she’d be happy to return to the show if asked. She feels very close to the people she worked with, considering them like family, and really enjoyed her time there, so she’d definitely think about taking the role again.

She explained that she’d really appreciated having extended time off, allowing her to spend quality time with her children without the pressures of a demanding schedule, which could be challenging at times.

Over the years, Vincent’s character Sophie on Corrie faced several dramatic events. These included finding religion, coming out as gay, and experiencing homelessness with her girlfriend Maddie after her mother, Sally, didn’t approve of their relationship.

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm and from 7am on ITVX.
