Since Sadie Sink joined the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Marvel fans have been buzzing with speculation about her role. Early reports suggested she’d have a major part, and that was reinforced by news she’ll also be in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars. Fans have guessed she could be several characters, including Rachel Cole Alves (associated with The Punisher), a version of Mary Jane from another universe, or even Peter Parker’s future daughter, Mayday. However, the most popular theory is that Sink will play Jean Grey, a character from the X-Men.
Okay, so a supposed leaked photo from the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day has everyone talking. It shows Sadie Sink standing next to Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, but there’s a catch – it’s got a Google Gemini watermark, which makes some people doubt if it’s even real. Regardless, it’s brought the speculation about Sink’s role right back to the surface. While a lot of fans still think she’s playing Jean Grey, the idea that she might actually be taking on the villain Typhoid Mary is gaining traction again. It’s definitely got the internet buzzing!
Sadie Sink Picture Leak From Spider-Man: Brand New Day Has Fans Questioning Character ID

A supposed leaked image from the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie has sparked renewed discussion about whether actress Sadie Sink might be playing the character Typhoid Mary. The reason? Her appearance in the leaked image – specifically the red bangs and hoodie – closely resembles Typhoid Mary’s look from Season 2 of Iron Fist. However, basing Sink’s potential role solely on these visual similarities is likely a stretch, as the resemblance isn’t strong enough to be conclusive.
If Marvel were to revive this character as a villain or anti-hero in the MCU, they’d likely stay true to the comics by giving her the signature curly hair and face paint. They’d also probably age the character realistically, allowing for a potential romantic connection with both Daredevil and Kingpin, as seen in the comics. For example, someone like Sadie Sink (age 24) could believably share a romance with Charlie Cox (42) or Vincent D’Onofrio (66).
The photo suggests Marvel Studios planned to keep Typhoid Mary looking the same as she did in Season 2 of Iron Fist, even though Daredevil: Born Again is a continuation of the old Netflix shows. Interestingly, while Finn Jones will return as Iron Fist, the show seems to ignore the ending of his series, where Colleen Wing became Iron Fist and Danny Rand used his powers through weapons. Because of this, keeping Typhoid Mary’s look consistent while using a new actress doesn’t really make sense.
Whether the photo is genuine is still the main issue, but many online commentators believe it is, suggesting the Gemini logo is just a result of fans editing the image. Even if the photo is real, it wouldn’t confirm what role Sadie Sink will play in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. We already knew she’d be connected to Jon Bernthal’s character, so them appearing together wouldn’t be shocking.
Okay, as a huge Marvel fan, here’s what I’m thinking about Sadie Sink’s role. The fact that Marvel is being so tight-lipped about her character is a massive clue. Seriously, in all the years of Marvel movies, they rarely keep a character’s identity this under wraps. Combine that with the obvious telekinetic powers we saw in the trailer, the confirmation she’ll be back for Avengers: Secret Wars, and, let’s be real, the red hair… it all points to Jean Grey. If she were playing someone less important, Marvel would have already confirmed it. But they’re keeping it a secret to keep us talking and build hype for what’s clearly the next big phase of the MCU: bringing the X-Men into the mix!
