Taylor Sheridan’s stories are consistently successful, reaching audiences on both streaming and on-demand platforms. After topping the charts on Paramount+ for months, his work is now also proving popular as a premium video on demand (PVOD) rental.
Honestly, I wasn’t shocked to hear about this. Season two of the show just dropped on April 20th, only three months after the finale aired back on January 18th. And it immediately shot to number one on the Apple TV charts here in the US, according to FlixPatrol – it’s been a huge hit!
Landman Season 2 Digital Release Had New Bonus Features
When Season 2 launched online, it included some extra content. Viewers can enjoy new behind-the-scenes footage and a look at what went into making the season. A highlight is the nearly 30-minute clip, “Going Deeper: Inside Landman Season 2.”
This short feature highlights the increasing challenges Tommy Norris encounters in his dangerous world. It includes interviews with the cast and crew, focusing on themes of family, ambition, risk, and how the characters’ connections are changing. It also hints at a more action-packed and dramatic season to come.
There’s also an 8-minute, 25-second bonus scene called “Finding Character in Clothing.” In it, costume designer Janie Bryant shares insights into the wardrobe of Landman Season 2. She explains how the clothing choices—from everyday denim and shirts to sharp suits and unique styles—show the characters’ personalities, social standing, and the contrasts between their lives, all while staying true to the show’s Texas setting.
Landman Continues to Be a Hit for Paramount+
I was completely captivated by this series, which started with the incredible podcast Boomtown by Christian Wallace. It really exposed what the big oil companies in Texas were up to. The show itself takes you right into the heart of the West Texas oilfields, and I found myself completely invested in the story of Tommy Norris, a guy who works for M-Tex Oil, desperately trying to make his company number one during this huge oil boom. It’s a wild ride!
During the second season, Norris faces a lot of challenges. He has to deal with the aftermath of Monty Miller’s death, a new leader at M-Tex Oil – Monty’s wife, Cami – and personal family issues, all while juggling dangerous business deals and mounting debts.
I’m really excited about this new neo-Western! It’s got an amazing cast – Billy Bob Thornton plays a character named Tommy, and Demi Moore is Cami. Plus, you’ve got Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Andy Garcia, and the always-great Sam Elliott all involved. It’s shaping up to be something special!
Released in November 2024, Landman quickly became popular on streaming platforms, much like other shows created by Taylor Sheridan. It received positive reviews, with a 78% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 66% audience score. The show was quickly renewed for a second season, which premiered in November 2025, but it didn’t resonate with viewers as well as the first season.
Season 2 was better received by critics, earning an 83% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating. However, audience scores were much lower at 48%, with many criticizing the weak female characters and overall writing. Despite this, it remains available for purchase on demand.
As a big movie fan, I was thrilled to hear Paramount+ quickly picked up the project! Now, production’s kicking off in May, which makes me wonder if we’ll still get a new installment every November like we’ve come to expect. It’s a bit up in the air right now, but I’m still excited!
Landman is streaming on Paramount+ and is available to rent or purchase on digital.
