Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Voice Cast & Character Guide

The popular show Stranger Things is continuing with a new spinoff called Stranger Things: Tales From ’85. While the main Stranger Things story concluded with its fifth season, the show’s creators want to explore more of that world. This animated spinoff takes viewers back to the winter of 1985 and features a brand new set of characters.

“Tales From ’85” takes place in the world of Stranger Things between the second and third seasons—after Eleven sealed the gate to the Upside Down, but before the events at Starcourt Mall and the discovery of the secret Russian lab. This new story follows Eleven and her friends on a fresh adventure, introducing a new character named Nikki and more creatures from the Upside Down. While the story features the familiar characters from Stranger Things, they are voiced by a different cast.

Instead, Tales From ’85 introduces a fresh cast of both up-and-coming and familiar actors. They skillfully portray a mix of beloved and brand-new characters within the world of Stranger Things, embarking on a thrilling new adventure throughout Hawkins.

Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven

As a movie and TV buff, I’ve been tracking Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, and she’s quickly building a solid resume! She started with a small role as Rachel on All About the Washingtons and did some voice work on We Bare Bears. But 2019 was a busy year – she popped up as Gemma in Cousins for Life, Zoe in Just Add Magic, and even Bian in Watchmen! More recently, I’ve seen her as Kennedy in The Big Show Show and Makayla in the Head of the Class reboot. Definitely an actress to watch!

Odessa A’zion as Nikki Baxter

Let’s talk about Odessa A’zion. This California native started small, with a brief appearance in the 2011 film Conception, but she’s really come into her own recently. I first noticed her in the 2019 sitcom Fam, but she truly broke through with the lead role in the 2022 Hellraiser reboot. Since then, she’s kept the momentum going with roles in films like The Inhabitant, Until Dawn, and Marty Supreme. She’s definitely an actress to watch!

A’zion has appeared in several TV roles, including voicing Orgaluth on Milo Murphy’s Law, playing Joey Del Marco in Grand Army, portraying Stephanie in Ghosts, and playing Tallulah in I Love LA.

Brett Gipson plays Jim Hopper, the sheriff of Hawkins and the father figure to Eleven. He’s appeared in smaller roles on several TV series, including Shameless, S.W.A.T., NCIS, and Station 19.

Jeremy Jordan plays Steve Harrington, who started as a popular student but now helps the group in Hawkins, especially forming a close friendship with Dustin. Jordan is also known for his roles as Winslow Schott Jr. on Supergirl and The Flash, Varian in Tangled: The Series, and Lucifer in Hazbin Hotel.

Janeane Garofalo plays Anna Baxter, Nikki’s mother, who is also the new substitute science teacher.
