Shirley Ballas, a judge on Strictly Come Dancing, is expanding her television work by joining the new show, Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro.
I’m so excited about this new series! It follows twelve incredibly talented, rising-star dancers as they live and compete together. They’re all hoping to land a coveted spot as a professional dancer on the next season of Dancing with the Stars, and we get to watch their journey through the audition process. It’s going to be amazing!
Carrie Ballas and her son, Mark, will be judges on the reality show, which is hosted by current champion Robert Irwin.
“Crikey, this is going to be fun,” Irwin said at the launch event for the series.
Throughout the show, the dancers will be working with familiar professional dancers who will take turns mentoring and judging. We’ll announce who the guest judges are later on.
We need to find another expert judge who can work alongside our experienced panel and help develop our new talent,” Shirley Ballas explained.
There’s more exciting news about Dancing with the Stars! Maura Higgins, known from The Traitors and Love Island, will be a contestant on the show’s 35th season.
I was so excited to hear that Wells Adams is joining the cast! They announced him and Ciara Miller from Summer House as the first two celebrities who’ll be part of the show – it’s a great start to the lineup, honestly.
Higgins explained to USA Today that she really focused on wanting to be on the show and had it on her vision board. She said it’s the only competition she’s truly set her sights on and that she wants it to be her last as a contestant. She had previously declined offers to appear on the Irish and UK versions of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ because she was hoping to land the American version.
She explained she wasn’t going to push herself too hard right now, as she knew she’d be exhausted by August. She plans to rest and take naps to prepare for it.
Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro begins on Monday 13 July on Hulu.
