Released in the 1990s, The Mummy starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz quickly became a classic adventure film. While inspired by the 1932 original, it was a huge success, leading to two sequels: The Mummy Returns (2001) and Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008). The franchise set a high bar for mummy movies, so fans were excited to hear about a fourth film announced last year. Now, there’s even more good news: The Mummy 4 has just received a new release date!
According to Discussing Film, the release date for The Mummy 4 has been moved up to October 15, 2027—seven months earlier than the previously planned May 19, 2028. That May 2028 date will now be taken by Miami Vice ’85, starring Austin Butler and Michael B. Jordan. Production on The Mummy 4 is set to begin next month.
The Mummy 4 May Just Be One of the Most-Anticipated Upcoming Films
2026 has several highly anticipated movies coming out, including Supergirl, Avengers: Doomsday, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, many fans are particularly excited about The Mummy 4, and the recent announcement of a release date will likely please them. The film will bring back Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, which is great news, and it’s being directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet – the team behind the successful Scream reboot and Ready or Not.
