Recent updates from Avalanche Software suggest that a reveal for Hogwarts Legacy 2 is coming very soon, meaning the highly anticipated sequel could be released shortly after. While neither Avalanche Software nor WB Games have officially hinted at anything, Avalanche has recently made two significant hires that point towards an upcoming announcement.
The studio is hiring a new community manager, a role they last filled in December 2021, shortly before announcing Hogwarts Legacy in March 2022. It makes sense to bring on community managers when a game is about to be revealed, as they’re needed to engage with players. Often, these roles are paused after a game launches and support ends, then revived when a new announcement is coming. They’ve also recently hired a Video Capture Artist, whose job is to record gameplay footage for trailers and marketing materials. This is another position typically filled right before a game reveal.
Hogwarts Legacy 2 Release Date
With increasing evidence suggesting an announcement for Hogwarts Legacy 2 is coming soon, a release isn’t far behind. The first game was released about a year after its initial reveal, and a sequel likely won’t need as much marketing time. This makes an early 2027 release date seem quite possible. This timeline also fits well with the upcoming HBO TV show, which is scheduled to premiere on December 25, 2026, as the game is expected to connect to the show. While this is all based on speculation, a release in late winter or early spring of 2027 appears not only possible, but probable.
Considering how the first Hogwarts Legacy was announced, it’s likely any reveal of Hogwarts Legacy 2 will happen at a gaming event, not through a separate announcement. The big question is whether PlayStation will once again have exclusive marketing rights. If not, we might see it revealed at events like Summer Games Fest or Xbox’s summer showcase.
