Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham are a fantastic action movie team, having worked together for over 25 years. Their partnership started with Statham’s first film role in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels back in 1998 and will continue with their new movie, Viva La Madness. While fans anticipate the release of Viva La Madness, they can currently enjoy what many consider to be Ritchie and Statham’s most overlooked film on Prime Video.
Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham teamed up again for their fourth project, the 2021 action movie Wrath of Man, following films like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and Revolver. The film, which earned $104 million globally, became available to stream on Prime Video on April 1st. It stars Jason Statham as Patrick “H” Hill, a secretive and capable man who takes a job with an armored truck company in Los Angeles. His real motive? To find the criminals who killed his son during a robbery.
Wrath of Man Was a Strong Reunion for Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham After a 15-Year Hiatus
As a longtime fan of Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham’s work together, I can confidently say Wrath of Man was absolutely worth the fifteen-year wait since Revolver. This film feels like a real departure for them – it’s much more serious and grounded than their usual witty crime comedies. Forget the stylistic action; this is a raw, ultraviolent revenge thriller focused on a cold, relentless mission. Statham, in particular, delivers a fascinatingly subdued performance, shedding his typical wisecracking persona for a much more mysterious and brooding character. It’s a no-frills action movie that prioritizes brutal impact over flashy choreography.
While Wrath of Man wasn’t quite the blockbuster fans hoped for from Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie working together, it was a well-made and exciting action-thriller. Critics gave it mixed reviews, with a 61% score on Rotten Tomatoes, but it still ranked among the best films in both Statham and Ritchie’s careers. Audiences loved it much more, giving it a “Verified Hot” rating and a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with many saying it was a thrilling ride from beginning to end.
What’s New on Prime Video?
You can now watch Wrath of Man on Prime Video. It’s one of many movies added to the streaming service this month, including titles like Dances with Wolves, End of Days, Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant, Mercury Rising, Self/less, The Terminator, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, and The Zone of Interest. Prime Video started adding new films in April and has continued to do so throughout the month.
