Jujutsu Kaisen Promises Return From Major Missing Character With New Release After Finale

A new installment of Jujutsu Kaisen is on the way, and the creators have hinted at the return of a beloved character. Last year, series author Gege Akutami surprised everyone by launching Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, a sequel set decades after the original story. While the sequel focuses on a new group of characters, familiar faces from the original series still make appearances, albeit much older.

I’m so excited! Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo finished its short run a few months ago, and Shueisha just announced the final volume is coming out in Japan on May 1st. But get this – they’re also including a bonus chapter featuring a character we’ve all been waiting to see again! It’s amazing they’re bringing them back after all this time, and I can’t wait to read it!

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo to Return With New Chapter Featuring Missing Character

The third volume of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo will be released in Japan on May 1st. However, there’s no news yet on when it will be available in English. The final volume will include special notes about the characters, plus a short extra manga showing what happens to a character who wasn’t originally in the sequel. Shueisha isn’t revealing who this character is, only referring to them as “that character,” but fans have a few guesses considering the story’s scope.

Watching Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo felt a little strange, as it’s set about 80 years after the original series. Because of the time jump, most of the characters we knew were either gone or much older. While it was nice to see a few familiar faces, it definitely meant we didn’t get a lot of the returns fans might have hoped for. It left me, and a lot of others, wondering what exactly happened to everyone and how the world ultimately ended, especially since so many characters’ stories felt unresolved.

Who Was Missing From Jujutsu Kaisen’s Sequel?

The recent story featured appearances by popular characters like Yuji Itadori, Yuta Okkotsu, Maki Zenin, and Nobara Kugisaki. Though other characters, such as Aoi Todo, were talked about, they didn’t actually show up. However, fans were particularly upset about how Megumi Fushiguro’s fate was handled. He was confirmed to be dead with a quick mention by Nobara in the final chapter, and many felt this was a disappointing way to address such a significant character.

Megumi was a key character in the original Jujutsu Kaisen, so his absence in the sequel was a noticeable disappointment for many fans. While the story begins after his apparent death, a special chapter showing what happens to him would significantly improve the ending of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. However, this applies to any surviving character who might return, not just Megumi.
