Michael B. Jordan Reveals the Surprising Place He Keeps His Oscar

That awkward moment when you don’t know where to put your Oscar.

More than a month after winning Best Actor at the 2026 Academy Awards for his role in Sinners, Michael B. Jordan is still deciding where to display his first Oscar.

He revealed to Erin Lim Rhodes of TopMob News at the premiere of his new film, Swapped, that the item is currently stored in his closet. The premiere took place at the Netflix Tudum Theater in Los Angeles on April 26.

Michael mentioned he’s been trying to find the perfect spot to display his trophy, but hasn’t quite found it yet.

He struggled to explain it. “It’s hard to say where it belongs,” he said. “It’s been moved around quite a bit, ending up in various places.”

He also hasn’t found a permanent place to display his Oscar because he’s already focused on his next film.

He dismissed any thought of his Oscar win, saying, ‘It’s in the past. I’m concentrating on what’s coming next.’ He used hand gestures to emphasize he wasn’t dwelling on it.

Even though Michael doesn’t dwell on his greatest achievement, it was still very important to him.

Honestly, standing up there accepting that award, I was just overwhelmed with gratitude. It’s incredible to know so many people – both in the audience and watching at home – have had my back throughout my career, and I truly feel that support. It means the world to me that you believe in me, and I’m so driven to keep improving and delivering my best work because of that faith. I promise to continue to grow and strive to be the best version of myself, always. Thank you for sticking with me!

While accepting the award, he remembered to thank his parents, Donna Jordan and Michael A. Jordan.

He expressed his gratitude to everyone present and watching at home for their support throughout his career. During his acceptance speech on March 15th, he said he felt their encouragement and was motivated to succeed because they believed in him. He promised to continue striving to improve and be his best self.

While accepting the award, he remembered to thank his parents, Donna Jordan and Michael A. Jordan.

As you all know, I’m very close to my mother, and my father is here with us. He actually traveled all the way from Ghana to be here.

Now that’s a striking necklace! Reese Witherspoon once considered turning her 2005 Best Actress Oscar into jewelry or a decorative door knocker, but she realized neither idea was very sensible. Instead, she told People magazine, she simply keeps the award on display in her living room.

Whenever the actress needs to relax, she visits the statue she received in 1970 for her role in the film Cactus Flower. She told InStyle magazine in 2005 that she keeps her award in her study, where she meditates. Sometimes she displays it on the mantelpiece, and other times she puts it in storage.

Despite his generally modest nature, the acclaimed actor—a two-time Oscar winner for Kramer vs. Kramer (1980) and Rain Man (1989)—initially didn’t display his awards. However, by the early 2000s, he revealed to InStyle magazine that he’d placed them on the mantle in his study alongside his six Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award from 1997. He jokingly attributed the change of heart to years of therapy, explaining that while he was proud of the awards, they weren’t what motivated him as an actor.

Whether it was the alcohol or just a busy life, Jamie Foxx didn’t want to keep his 2004 Oscar for Ray at his large California home. He explained to InStyle that he gives the award to his manager for safekeeping, saying he simply has too many visitors at his house!

She’s very protective of her Oscar! The Chicago native, who won for Dreamgirls in 2007, told InStyle she doesn’t let anyone touch it. ‘Where I’m from, nobody’s ever even seen an Oscar,’ she explained. She’s happy to pose for pictures with it, but touching is off-limits. ‘It’s the ultimate honor, and I need to protect it,’ she said. And to give it the respect it deserves, the 13.5-inch statuette sits on its own lit pedestal.

Kevin Costner initially worried someone would steal his two Academy Awards for Dances With Wolves (1991), so he kept them hidden in his underwear drawer. Once he felt secure, he created a special display for them in his screening room, which he called the “perfect spot.” He explained to InStyle that visitors have to walk past posters of his favorite films – like Gone With the Wind, Lawrence of Arabia, and Bridge on the River Kwai – before they can see the Oscars, making it a fitting location.

Apparently, the phrase “grab a cold one” has a whole new meaning for actor Timothy Hutton. He revealed that after winning an Academy Award at age 20 for his role in the 1980 film Ordinary People, his sister jokingly put the Oscar in the refrigerator alongside the beers. Surprisingly, he says it’s still there!

We somehow overlooked Jane Fonda’s workout video! In a 1998 interview with InStyle magazine, the acclaimed actress playfully mentioned her Academy Awards for Klute (1972) and Coming Home (1979), saying, “The best thing about winning two Oscars is that I can work out with them!” At the time, she was married to media mogul Ted Turner, and she recalled that when they first met, after seeing his office filled with sailing trophies, she quipped, “Honey, I’ve won a few trophies too. Where am I going to put mine?” They ended up building a trophy case in Montana to display them all together.

It seems Damon lost his Oscar statue from 1998 when his New York City apartment flooded. Ben Affleck, who co-wrote Good Will Hunting with him, had a more relaxed attitude towards his award. Affleck told InStyle magazine that it started in his Los Angeles apartment, then he gave it to his mother, jokingly saying she could keep it instead of giving him a grandson. Eventually, he took it back and moved it around between his various offices, keeping it in ordinary places like desks and bookshelves.

After winning the Best Actress Oscar in 1984 for Terms of Endearment, the five-time Golden Globe winner found a practical use for her award. Years later, she told InStyle that she lives a simpler life now, doesn’t focus on fashion, and keeps most of her awards tucked away. However, her Oscar had a special place in her den, next to a statue of the Hindu God Siva she’d acquired in India. She explained that the eight-and-a-half-pound trophy actually served a purpose: holding down The New York Times when the wind blew through her New Mexico ranch.

The actress’s Oscar win for Shakespeare in Love in 1999 wasn’t a happy experience for her. She admitted to Contact Music that she put the trophy away in her bedroom, hidden at the back of a bookshelf, because it made her uncomfortable. She’s never been able to fully enjoy the award, explaining that it reminds her of a difficult period in her life and makes her feel embarrassed and uneasy.

Catherine Zeta-Jones says her Academy Award for Chicago has a special place in her Bermuda home, where she and husband Michael Douglas live. She jokingly noted it’s likely one of the few Oscars to ever reside on the island, and everyone who visits wants a picture with it. She received the award a month before giving birth to their daughter, Carys, in 2003.

Someone should definitely make a movie about this story! Actress Alicia Vikander didn’t have a permanent home at the time she won her Best Actress award for The Danish Girl in 2016, so she left the trophy with a friend in Los Angeles. The friend’s daughter then turned caring for the award into a fun game. “She’s been sending me pictures to show she’s taking good care of it,” Vikander shared with People magazine. “I love getting those little updates!”

Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, have quite a collection of awards! Hanks joked that you never know what you’ll find on their trophy shelf. He mentioned his two Oscars – for Philadelphia and Forrest Gump – were once displayed alongside some soccer trophies. He also added with a laugh that a Mother’s Day “World’s Greatest Mom” trophy was up there too.

Okay, so this is a funny story! After I won my Oscar for La La Land in 2017, Jimmy Kimmel was the host and he actually sent me some… well, rubber underwear! Apparently, he wanted to make sure my little Oscar statue was properly covered. I told People magazine that my mom, Krista, is now the keeper of these tighty-whities – Jimmy said he just wanted to bring a little decency to my home, and honestly, it’s a hilarious memory!

Lupita Nyong’o described her 2014 Best Supporting Actress Oscar as simply sitting on a shelf by itself, as she told Variety. However, she happily lets friends hold and admire the award when they ask. “Yeah, and they’re allowed to,” she said.

The actress, who starred in The Piano, didn’t like making a big deal about the Academy Award she won when she was eleven years old. She told InStyle magazine five years after her 1994 win that she keeps the award hidden with her boots in the back of her closet. She prefers to keep it out of sight because she doesn’t want friends to feel obligated to comment on it, and she doesn’t want the extra attention.

Since winning his Oscar in 1997, the award has become even more meaningful to the actor. For the first six years, he kept it pristine in his wine cabinet. Now, displayed in his screening room, it’s naturally tarnished with age. As he told InStyle, this adds character – just like him.

The Academy Award-winning actress says her husband, Julius Tennon, always encourages her. He even insisted on displaying her 2017 Oscar in their office, alongside her Emmy from How to Get Away With Murder and her two Tony Awards. She jokingly admitted that she’d rather keep the Oscar in the garage as a reminder to stay grounded.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Julia Roberts was being questioned by Ellen DeGeneres – Ellen! – about where she keeps her Oscar from ‘Erin Brockovich’. Apparently, it’s in a room with her daughter’s piano, which they call the ‘piano room’, but she was worried that sounded too fancy! So, she told everyone it was in a ‘parlor’ instead! Ellen was like, ‘Wait, you thought ‘parlor’ sounded less pretentious?’ It’s just… Julia Roberts is the cutest, most self-aware person ever, and I’m obsessed!

Henry Golding had a surprising discovery while using the bathroom at Emma Thompson’s house. Emma keeps her two Oscars in there – she says they’re too flashy to display anywhere else! During a cast get-together, Henry spotted the statues while he was in the restroom. He told Jimmy Fallon he was “conducting business” when his eyes landed on the “two golden statues” and immediately took a picture as proof. He even noted how amazing it was, and shared that Emma had thoughtfully placed a mirror nearby for guests to take selfies with the Oscars.
