The Final Episodes of a Criminally Underrated Sitcom Are Leaving Netflix in Just a Few Days

Netflix is a great choice for anyone who loves sitcoms. It has a wide variety of both classic, well-known shows and popular original comedies, making it a go-to place for comforting favorites like Seinfeld, Arrested Development, and One Day at a Time. While Netflix has some hidden gems, there’s one particularly good sitcom that subscribers should watch soon, as it’s leaving the platform in May.

The British comedy series White Gold, created by the writer of The Inbetweeners, is leaving Netflix. Set in 1980s Essex, the show follows a team of less-than-honest double-glazing salesmen, led by the charming but deceitful Vincent Swan, as they try to succeed in a competitive market. It first became available on Netflix in 2017, but is now being removed because the licensing agreement with the BBC has ended. After Season 1 was taken down a few months ago, the remaining six episodes of Season 2 will disappear from Netflix worldwide on May 17th, except in the UK.

White Gold Is a Hilariously Sharp Sitcom

If you haven’t watched White Gold yet, it’s worth checking out on Netflix before it’s gone. Many consider it one of the best British comedies of the last ten years, and fans of The Inbetweeners will especially love it. It’s created by the same person and stars Joe Thomas and James Buckley! Like The Inbetweeners, it’s a fast-paced, funny show full of witty banter. White Gold features hilarious, though often flawed, characters and sharp dialogue, creating a darkly funny and absurd world. Plus, it’s a fantastic trip back to the 1980s, perfectly capturing the era’s obsession with wealth and featuring great 80s music and fashion.

Everyone generally loved White Gold. Both critics and viewers gave it an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and the final season earned a 90% audience score on Popcornmeter. People who watched the show described it as funny, clever, and fast-paced, saying it grabbed their attention right away. Sadly, despite its popularity, White Gold wasn’t renewed for another season and ends with an unresolved cliffhanger.

Where to Stream White Gold After It Leaves Netflix?

After leaving Netflix, it will be very difficult to watch White Gold outside the UK. Currently, the series is only available on Netflix and isn’t available to rent or buy digitally. It’s also unknown if another streaming service will pick it up, as it hasn’t been announced on any other platforms’ schedules for May 2026.
