King Charles IIIand Queen Camilla are getting the royal treatment Stateside.
On April 27th, the King and Queen of Britain traveled to the United States to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence.
After arriving at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, the royal couple was welcomed by children of British military families stationed in the U.S., who presented them with flowers. They then traveled to Washington D.C., where they met with President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
Following photo opportunities at the White House, the world leaders enjoyed a private tea. Later, Charles and Camilla plan to visit the White House beehives and then attend a garden party hosted by the British Ambassador.
A full ceremonial welcome for the King and Queen will take place April 28 at the White House.
In late March, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles, father to Prince William and Prince Harry, and Queen Camilla will be visiting before traveling to Bermuda.
According to a recent Instagram post from The Royal Family, King Charles and Queen Camilla will visit the United States at the invitation of the U.S. President and with the approval of the British government.
The post also explained that the King and Queen’s visit will highlight the long-standing ties and current relationship between the UK and the US, celebrating 250 years of American Independence.

According to the BBC, the king’s visit will likely include an address to Congress and a formal dinner at the White House.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m following this exciting news! It’s wonderful to see the royal couple making their first official trip to the U.S. – it’s been just over a year since they hosted a visit from Trump and his wife in the U.K. back in September 2025. Their time at Windsor Castle was truly special, including a gorgeous state banquet where they welcomed guests like William and Kate Middleton.
King Charles’ recent trip to the U.S. follows, by just over a month, the arrest of his brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (formerly Prince Andrew), who was taken into custody on February 19th on suspicion of improper behavior while holding a public position.

Police say Andrew shared secret details with his friend Jeffrey Epstein, who died in 2019 while facing sex-trafficking accusations, during Andrew’s time as a trade representative for Britain.
Andrew hasn’t spoken publicly about the accusations or his arrest, but he has strongly denied any claims of sexual misconduct related to his connection with Epstein.

Following his brother Andrew’s arrest, King Charles publicly disapproved of his actions, having already removed Andrew’s royal titles back in October.
I was deeply concerned to learn about the allegations against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor regarding potential misconduct while in public office,” he said in a statement released on February 19th by Buckingham Palace. “Now, the matter will be thoroughly and fairly investigated by the relevant authorities.”
