As a huge fan of Final Fantasy VII Remake, I was so excited when Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth came out in 2024! It’s the second game in a planned trilogy that’s basically rebuilding the classic Final Fantasy VII from 1997. The game follows Cloud and his friends as they travel across the world, trying to stop the Shinra Corporation from draining the planet’s life force. It was a massive hit – people were even talking about it being Game of the Year! While we’re all eagerly waiting for the final game in the trilogy, it’s awesome that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is available as a free download for a limited time!
Starting April 28th, players can try out a free demo of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on both Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X. The demo lets you play the first two chapters of the game, which has a total of fourteen. The first chapter is a flashback showing Cloud experiencing the events at Nibelheim. Chapter two returns to the present, picking up with Cloud and his companions as they regroup in Kalm after escaping Midgar in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Plus, you can carry your progress from the demo over to the full game if you decide to buy it!
Players will soon have a chance to experience Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on the new Nintendo Switch 2! A demo will be available starting June 3, 2026, giving everyone an early look at the game. Plus, according to Square Enix, trying out the demo unlocks special in-game rewards for the full version, including a Kupo Charm (which helps you find more materials) and a helpful Survival Set.
In FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH, Cloud and his friends – Tifa, Barret, Aerith, and Red XIII – leave the ruined city of Midgar and venture into a sprawling, beautiful world. They’re on a quest to stop Sephiroth, a dangerous figure from Cloud’s past who wants to control the planet. Along the way, they’ll team up with new allies, including the energetic ninja Yuffie and the playful robot Cait Sith. FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH offers a captivating experience with surprising moments, compelling characters, and stunning visuals that both longtime fans and new players will love.
With the third game in the Final Fantasy 7 remake series potentially coming soon, excitement is building among fans, especially after the positive reception to the first two games. While we wait for an official release date, this fantastic free game download is a great way to discover something new to play.
