Miraculous: Highly Anticipated Spin-Off Series Canceled

Since it first aired in 2015, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir has become increasingly popular. The show, featuring the crime-fighting duo, has expanded into a large franchise with over 150 episodes across six seasons. Beyond the main series and a movie, several spin-offs have been created, including Miraculous: Stellar Force and Miraculous World. However, one potential spin-off isn’t moving forward. Thomas Astruc, the creator and director of Miraculous, recently announced that the story of Ladydragon will not be developed at this time.

If you’re unfamiliar, Ladydragon was first introduced in the Miraculous World spin-off series, specifically in the episode Miraculous World: Shanghai, The Legend of Ladydragon, where she helped Marinette and the other heroes. Fei Wu, skilled in martial arts, was a resourceful thief who crossed paths with Marinette during that episode. Recently, Thomas Astruc announced that the spin-off series, which had been paused for several years, won’t be continuing. However, he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of the story being developed in the future.

Will Ladydragon Return?

Astruc previously talked about a potential spin-off series focusing on Ladydragon, mentioning he’d already developed a lot of story ideas for her. While he doesn’t have the authority to approve projects himself, he hopes enough fan interest might make it happen. He’s already written detailed outlines – essentially ‘bibles’ – for a Ladydragon series, a special episode taking place in Brazil, and a separate show set in Brazil. These outlines explore the world of Shadybug, including the backstories of characters like Majestia and Knight Owl, and details about their ancestors.

The creator of Miraculous hinted that there are many more stories planned for the animated series. They said what viewers have seen so far is just a small part of the larger universe and expressed hope that these stories will be made, perhaps with support from the fans. They ended with a hopeful note, saying they’re keeping their fingers crossed.

I’m so excited – Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir is currently airing its sixth season, and we still have a bunch of episodes to go! But the best part? It’s already been renewed for a whopping ten seasons! The creators are even hoping to continue beyond that, which is amazing. And get this – this year, Ladybug and Cat Noir are getting their own live-action stage play! It just shows how much this show has blown up since it started. While a spin-off focusing on Ladydragon isn’t happening right now, you never know – with how popular Miraculous is, it could totally happen someday!
