Dragon Ball Super Reboot Is Going to Be Longer Than You Think, Claims New Report

A remake of Dragon Ball Super is currently being produced, starting with the original TV anime series. Reports suggest this new version, titled Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, won’t just cover the story of Beerus; it will expand significantly beyond that initial arc, offering a more detailed and extended retelling of the Battle of Gods saga.

The Dragon Ball Super: Beerus remake will include the Battle of Gods and Resurrection F arcs, as previously announced. However, recent reports indicate the remake will also cover other storylines from the original anime, with episodes currently planned up to and including the Universe 6 arc.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus to Have at Least 20 Episodes

The report suggests that the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus remake will cover the Battle of Gods story arc in six episodes, followed by the Resurrection F arc in five to six episodes, and the Universe 6 arc in around seven to eight episodes. While Toei Animation hasn’t officially confirmed this plan, it’s encouraging news, as the anime is now confirmed to extend beyond just the Battle of Gods arc.

Voice actress Masako Nozawa, known for her role in Dragon Ball Super, hinted at a revamped version of the iconic Goku vs. Frieza battle earlier this year, saying she hoped fans would be excited for a “powered up, enhanced edition.” Given that the remake will cover the first two story arcs, it’s likely the next major arc – featuring the fights against Universe 6 – will be adapted next.

How Far Will Dragon Ball Super’s Remake Go?

This report really makes you wonder how long this updated version of the anime will be available. It was described as a significantly improved edition, promising new scenes, changes to existing ones, completely re-done visuals, new voice acting with updated music and sound, and a rebuilt storyline. In the long run, this is likely a positive step for the series.

A new anime adaptation of the ‘Galactic Patrol Prisoner’ arc from the Dragon Ball Super manga, titled Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, is in the works. This remake will serve as a good entry point for new fans and a fresh experience for existing ones, leading into the latest stories. It’s expected to become the definitive way to watch everything leading up to the Tournament of Power.
