MindsEye’s Blacklisted Update, Where You Hunt the Game’s Alleged Saboteurs, is Out Now

After a difficult launch and poor response to MindsEye last year, Build A Rocket Boy’s CEO and CTO, Mark Gerhard, is finally sharing more information about the team behind the game.

We recently mentioned an upcoming update that would reveal some characters, and now we can share details about Blacklisted. It features Julia Black, a highly skilled assassin, sent to Redrock to eliminate two important targets. She’s working for the Meridian agency, which is dealing with problems from both inside and outside the organization. The storyline feels a bit too relevant to current events, but we’re hoping it will revitalize MindsEye.

Beyond the “Blacklisted” update, PC players now have more options in Build ARCADIA. Console players are still waiting for races and the race builder, but those are expected to arrive sometime this year. The new options for PC include things like Points of Interest, Weapon Status, and NPC voiceovers, plus some improvements to existing features. The main game has also received general improvements and bug fixes. You can find more details below and in the full announcement on Steam.

Improvements

AI & NPC

  • Civilian NPCs are more reactive to their environment and will flee in response to certain sights.
  • Enemy AI is now prevented from entering or leaving cover while reloading.

Audio

  • Improved environmental sound effects.
  • Sound effects have been added to the mission ‘Out of Bounds’ notification, which was previously hard to notice.

Bug Fixes

  • Resolved various minor bug fixes across MindsEye.

BUILD ARCADIA – (PC)

 Improvements

Logic Nodes (New Logic Objects & Nodes)

  • Added the ‘Point of Interest’ node. This node can be used to make Players and NPCs automatically look at an object in close vicinity or a point of interest in a given area.
  • Introduced the ‘Get Weapon Status’ and ‘On Weapon Status Changed’ nodes. These nodes allow players to understand whether any actor currently has their weapon drawn or holstered and automatically trigger whenever an actor draws or holsters their weapon.
  • Added the ‘NPC Ambient Voice’ node. This node gives the player the ability to turn on or off the ambient shouts and SFX for specified NPC actors.
