Jason Kelce Reveals Secret to Marriage With Kylie Kelce

Jason Kelce and Kylie Kelce continue to take their romance to new heights. 

Just after celebrating their eighth anniversary, the former Philadelphia Eagles center shared how he and his wife have maintained a strong and loving relationship.

Jason, who has four daughters – Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 5, Bennett, 3, and Finnley, 13 months – with his wife Kylie, shared with Will Marfuggi of TopMob News at the Beverage Forum on April 28th, ‘Ky and I always say this: the key to a good relationship is to keep dating each other. You have to continue going out, doing things together, and prioritizing time as a couple.’

Jason acknowledged that things get more difficult as your children become more involved and your career advances.

To make their relationship work, this couple—who met on Tinder and married in 2018—focus on supporting each other. They also believe in taking life as it comes, which helps them stay happy.

As Jason put it, “Keep doing new, fresh things.”

He prioritizes his family even in his professional life. For example, at The Beverage Forum, he was showcasing Garage Beer’s new bottles, an initiative he’d first presented in a commercial featuring his wife.

Jason chuckled, saying it wasn’t easy getting Ky on board. She wasn’t initially keen on acting, but when they pitched her the idea, she agreed, saying she’d do it just for them.

Fortunately, the couple’s first time acting together went really well, and Jason said he believes she was pleased with how it turned out.

Jason, age 38, is very family-oriented. He and his brother, Travis Kelce – who is engaged to Taylor Swift – co-own Garage Beer, and he describes it as a fantastic experience for them both.

Trav and I have known each other for a long time, since college actually. So, when we started thinking about going into business together, it felt natural. We’ve already collaborated on the podcast and other projects, and this just seemed like the perfect fit.

Jason explained his eagerness to work with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, saying, “It just aligns with the kind of things we enjoy doing.”

Jason Kelce prefers to keep it quiet, but his wife, Kylie Kelce, shared the story of how they met: on a dating app. She revealed this in the 2023 Prime Video documentary about him, simply titled Kelce.

“Jason won’t let me lie about this,” Kylie shared. “We met on Tinder.”

Kylie didn’t realize Jason was a football player when she first saw his profile. She said, “He didn’t have any pictures of himself playing for the Philadelphia Eagles.”

After Kylie and her friends realized he seemed a little familiar, they did what many women their age do: they searched for him on Google Images. Once Kylie identified him, she was sure he wasn’t being honest with her.

“It can’t be him,” she remembered thinking, “it’s a catfish.”

Despite her reservations, she decided to take a risk. In 2015, she posted the first picture of them together on Instagram with the caption, “So glad you swiped right!”

While Jason and Kylie ultimately hit it off, their first date didn’t go according to the game plan. 

Kylie shared on Jason’s podcast, New Heights (which he hosts with his brother Travis Kelce), that you fell asleep on the bar table just 45 minutes after she arrived – because you’d had too much to drink.

Jason confessed he’d had too much to drink, but insisted he was still aware enough to realize he was looking at the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen. He said he fell in love with her immediately.

Kylie confessed it wasn’t easy for her to immediately embrace the idea of dating a professional athlete; it took her some time to fully commit.

She shared that she kept her relationships private. She didn’t want to risk opening up about feelings for someone, only to discover they were seeing other people – a common concern when dating athletes, she explained.

However, in hindsight, Kylie admitted. “It’s entertaining that there was any hesitation at all.” 

She explained that it wasn’t just that she was dating a professional athlete, but that she was in a relationship with Jason, and his job happened to be football.

She said yes! But only after putting up with some of Jason’s B.S. 

In a September 2023 episode of the New Heights podcast, Jason and his partner discussed how he proposed. Jason started by saying he doesn’t consider himself a romantic.

The NFL star proposed to Kylie in his car while they were leaving her parents’ house. 

He said he didn’t know how to get back inside without it looking strange. He explained that if he’d just said he needed to talk to his dad, it would have seemed really unusual.

Okay, so this is a story I hear a lot when I’m talking to people about navigating awkward moments! Basically, this guy, Jason, was in the car with his friend Ky and, well, nature called. He just blurted out, ‘Ky, I’m really sorry, but I urgently need to use the restroom!’ It’s not pretty, but sometimes honesty – even a little too much honesty – is the best policy, right? It’s all about keeping it real, even when it’s a little embarrassing.

Kylie quickly realized Jason was hiding something when he came back inside after just a few minutes. She playfully confronted him, saying, “Jason, there’s no way you were just in there for that long – it usually takes you around 20 minutes!”

Jason then cut the bulls–t and got down to business. 

Kylie remembered him saying, ‘This isn’t exactly how I pictured proposing,’ and she instantly burst into tears. She realized what he meant because he mentioned romance, letting her know a proposal was coming.

Just two months after celebrating a Super Bowl victory in 2018, Jason experienced another joyful milestone: he and Kylie got married in Philadelphia.

To celebrate their first anniversary, Kylie shared some throwback pictures from their wedding day.

She wrote that a year ago today, they exchanged vows of love and commitment in front of their loved ones. She expressed immense gratitude for being able to share her life with him.

The couple had their first child, Wyatt Elizabeth Kelce, on October 2, 2019. To mark Wyatt’s first birthday, Kylie posted some pictures from the delivery room on Instagram.

A year ago, our sweet baby Wy spent her first night nestled on my chest. I’ll always cherish her cuddles! I also wanted to share one of my most treasured photos – it’s from the middle of pushing, with veins popping and Jason giving the biggest, happiest smile. Just minutes later, we became parents.

The Kelces welcomed their second child, daughter Elliotte Rya Kelce, into the world on March 4.

I was so touched when Kylie posted the cutest video of little Elliotte celebrating her six-month birthday! The caption, ‘Full of smiles, laughs, and sweetness,’ perfectly captures how adorable she is. It really made my day seeing how happy she is!

To start off 2022, Kylie shared a photo of her son, Elliotte, with the caption, “The best part of 2021.”

During the 2023 Super Bowl, where Jason and Travis competed against each other, Kylie brought a special guest to the game.

Jason mentioned on the podcast that Kylie is planning to bring her obstetrician to the game because she’ll be 38 weeks pregnant. He joked that if she goes into labor at the stadium, it would be a truly memorable – and likely planned – moment, calling it a ‘Kelce Bowl’ baby.

Travis joked, “We’re in The Matrix, there’s no f–king way.”

Although Uncle Trav’s team, the Chiefs, won the Kelce Bowl against the Eagles, Jason had an even more joyful event just two weeks later: the birth of his and Kylie’s third daughter.

The couple announced the arrival of their baby daughter, Bennett Llewellyn Kelce, on Instagram yesterday. She weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces and measured 21 inches long.

Their daughter was named in honor of Jason’s grandmother through Bennett’s middle name, Llewellyn.

Jason explained on the New Heights podcast that the name is his grandmother Mary’s birth name. He wanted to pay tribute to her, noting she lived a full life and is now at peace.

Kylie and her three daughters went to see Jason at the Philadelphia Eagles training camp, and the couple shared photos of their visit on Instagram.

“Here for the Rita’s and obstacle courses with dad after practice,” the caption read.

The Prime Video documentary about the Kelce brothers showed Jason as a devoted father, and Kylie openly discussed Jason’s potential retirement.

Honestly, I’m always saying that no matter what happens with his career, how it all wraps up, the most important thing to me is that I want him to retire while he’s still physically able to get down on the floor and just play with our kids, you know? Comfortably. That’s all I really care about. It’s not about the touchdowns or the wins, it’s about him being present with our family.

Since retiring in March 2024, Jason has been keeping busy and seems a bit down. He’s enjoyed attending events like the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Cannes Lions festival, and several concerts on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. He even met Prince William and his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, at a London show.

And it’s clear he’s having a royally good time in his new gig as an ESPN commentator. 

Things were a bit different at training camp this year,” Kylie posted on Instagram on September 14, 2024. “And watching you play at Lincoln Financial Field on Monday will be too. The whole family is excited to support you as you start this new journey!”

However, she added, “Maybe try not to say t-ts this week?” 

And Jason was ready to have another tiny cheerleader. 

Kylie recently shared with New York Magazine’s The Strategist that her family reuses clothes from their oldest daughter with each new baby. She mentioned that pajamas from Hanna Anderson are particularly durable – they still have some saved, even with the possibility of having a fourth child!

Months later, the duo revealed they were signing another daughter to their roster. 

I think we really showed how the girls feel about having a new sister,” Kylie posted on Instagram. “It’s good that Ellie, Mom, and Dad all agree!”

Oh my gosh, she said on her podcast the other day that this might be it for having more kids! She was joking, but she said after this baby, she’s totally shutting down the baby-making factory. She said she’ll be all, ‘Don’t even look at me! Just keep your eyes down!’ It’s honestly a little heartbreaking, but I totally get it. She’s a superhero already with how many kids she has, so I respect her decision! I’m just going to replay that podcast clip forever, honestly.
