Darkseid represents the ultimate form of tyranny, and his ultimate goal is to dominate the entire multiverse, forcing everyone to worship him and exist as his mindless slaves. To achieve this, he relentlessly pursues the Anti-Life Equation – a formula that grants complete control over the minds of anyone exposed to it. While Darkseid has come close to obtaining it multiple times, the heroes have always managed to thwart his plans.

The Anti-Life Equation is an incredibly dangerous force, and very few beings could truly master it. However, a handful of characters within the DC Universe possess the strength and will to control its power, potentially using it for either heroic or villainous purposes. Here are ten DC characters who could successfully wield the Anti-Life Equation and reshape reality to their desires.

10) Batman

As a huge Batman fan, I’ve always seen him as the ultimate prepared hero. He’s not just physically tough and brilliant, but he’s willing to do whatever it takes to protect people, even make incredibly difficult choices. Thinking about it, the Anti-Life Equation? Honestly, I think Batman would see that as a tool, a way to completely eradicate crime. He’s proven time and again he can push beyond human limits, accessing abilities others can’t. The Anti-Life Equation wouldn’t be some moral line for him; it would just be another powerful weapon in his belt, and he wouldn’t hesitate to use it if he thought it would save lives.

9) Brainiac

As a huge movie buff, I’ve always thought Brainiac was one of the scariest villains out there. Seriously, the guy has wiped out planets just to expand his knowledge! So, naturally, the Anti-Life Equation would be right up his alley. It’s the key to total understanding for him, and you know he wouldn’t just take it as is – he’d tinker with it, modify it, and absolutely turn it into some kind of devastating weapon. Considering how incredibly intelligent he is, it’s almost guaranteed he’d find a way to make himself even more terrifying than he already is.

8) Orion

Orion is the son of the villain Darkseid, but was given to New Genesis as part of a trade for Highfather’s son. He grew up among the New Gods and became their greatest warrior, all because of a prophecy that he would eventually kill Darkseid. He’s incredibly powerful, and as Darkseid’s son, he has the potential to wield immense cosmic power – the Equation. Whether he uses that power for good or evil is uncertain; he could follow in the footsteps of either his birth father or his adoptive one. Importantly, Orion would remain in control of his choices – the power wouldn’t control him. It would be fascinating to see how he’d ultimately use it.

7) Mister Miracle

Scott Free’s story is linked to Orion’s arrival on New Genesis – he was essentially traded as part of the deal. He was raised in Granny Goodness’s harsh Orphanage, where she relentlessly tried to turn him into a soldier for Darkseid, but her efforts failed. Now, he’s a powerful hero fighting against Darkseid’s evil. Scott possesses the Alpha Effect, a power that directly opposes Darkseid’s Omega Effect, proving him to be Darkseid’s perfect opposite. He has the potential to master the Anti-Life Equation, but instead of using it for destruction, he would wield it for good. Years of training have made him an expert at escaping manipulation and control, and as a god himself, the Anti-Life Equation would simply be another ability in his arsenal.

6) Lex Luthor

Lex Luthor, a brilliant but unstable man, has encountered the Anti-Life Equation and sees it as a way to increase his already considerable power. During Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, Nightwing played a crucial role in using the energy released by Pariah and the Dark Army to restore the original multiverse. He’s deeply selfless and would likely be able to control even the dangerous Anti-Life Equation if necessary.

While she would strongly oppose the Anti-Life Equation’s principles, she has the inner strength to wield its power responsibly.

Interestingly, despite the Anti-Life Equation representing everything he opposes, he’s sometimes been forced to utilize similar, morally questionable methods. However, if anyone could master the Equation and use it for good, it’s Superman. He has a unique ability to turn even the most devastating circumstances into positive outcomes for everyone.
