A tragedy has occurred at Hersheypark.
On July 24th, it was tragically confirmed by John Lawn, CEO of Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company, via a Facebook statement, that an undetermined child aged 9 unfortunately lost their life during a visit to the Pennsylvania theme park.
Based on Lawn’s account, it was at the water park section of The Boardwalk where lifeguards observed that the child was in trouble.
As an overjoyed spectator, I can’t help but express my gratitude for the swift action taken. Initially, they executed a prompt rescue, which was quickly followed by persistent, synchronized lifesaving endeavors from our dedicated lifeguards, on-site emergency responders, and medical professionals. Simply amazing!
Regardless of the team’s diligent attempts, sadly, reviving the child proved impossible at the scene. Subsequently, they were declared deceased at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
With great empathy, our hearts are deeply saddened for the affected child and their loved ones. We offer our sincerest sympathies for their grief, but to preserve their privacy, we won’t disclose any private information at the moment.
The park has indicated it will work closely with officials during any investigations, and they plan to carry out an extensive examination of their own operations following the incident.
As a devoted supporter, I vow to delve deeply into understanding this unfortunate incident. In doing so, I aim to preserve the legacy of our young visitor by remaining steadfast in our commitment to prioritize the security and well-being of all guests here at Hersheypark.
On July 24th at Hersheypark, an individual recounted to NBC News’ WGAL 8 that they observed a child being forcibly removed from the wave pool in a lifeless manner.
According to the eyewitness account, the lifeguards sounded their whistles prompting an immediate evacuation of all present. Shortly after, employees and security personnel swiftly moved in to assist. The witness further reported that one lifeguard started performing CPR on a stretcher with great concentration, working at it for several minutes.
TopMob News has contacted Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company and local officials concerning the recent event, however, we have yet to receive a response.
Hersheypark first opened its gates back in 1906, and this past year marked its 119th anniversary. Over the years, it has experienced numerous expansions and now offers more than 70 thrilling theme park rides, along with a waterpark and a zoo as well.
Back in April, I found myself caught up in another little hiccup on the Kissing Tower ride at Hersheypark. As if reading from a script, a representative from the company shared with ABC’s WTHM that the ride had indeed halted mid-cycle, leaving us passengers dangling for what felt like an eternity.
Despite being suspended 250 feet up, fortunately, no one was hurt during the incident. The team had to carefully bring down the ride to the ground in accordance with safety protocols so they could safely disembark the passengers.
