Although Certain Affinity‘s game, Tatanka, didn’t come to fruition, they’re reportedly collaborating with Halo Studios on Project Ekur. This new project is said to be a separate, multiplayer Halo game built using Unreal Engine 5.
I’m so excited to hear that the next big Halo game is already being worked on, using the same engine as the current one! But what about those rumors of remakes for Halo 2 and 3? Well, it sounds like those are happening too, and they’re actually being developed alongside the remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. Apparently, even if the first remake doesn’t do super well, the others are still going ahead – which makes sense, because people started talking about Halo 2 and 3 remakes pretty quickly after the first one was announced!
So, I’ve heard the new prequel missions in Campaign Evolved might give us a sneak peek at what the remakes are looking like, especially when it comes to the Brutes. Apparently, these missions feature the Brutes – and a brand new Covenant group – and their designs are based on some early artwork from Halo: Reach. It’s cool they’re not including sprint or multiplayer, but these missions sound like a nice little treat for fans!
While Xbox and Halo Studios haven’t officially announced remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3, they may reveal the release date for Halo: Combat Evolved at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7th. Current reports indicate the game will launch on July 28th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with those who pre-order gaining early access starting July 23rd.
