Kagurabachi’s Latest Volume Sales Challenge JJK Modulo Volume 3

It’s safe to say Takeru Hokazono’s popular manga – a story about a boy seeking revenge for his father’s death with a magical katana – is poised to become the next big thing in shonen anime. With a new anime adaptation on the way, it’s quickly gaining traction and could even surpass Jujutsu Kaisen in popularity.

The anime is set to premiere in April 2027, as revealed at Shonen Jump’s Jump Press event on April 27th. Even though the show isn’t out for a while, the announcement has already boosted sales of the original manga.

Recent sales figures from Shoseki suggest that the anime adaptation of Kagurabachi could quickly make it one of the most popular dark shonen battle manga currently available.

Kagurabachi’s Anime Announcement Propels the Manga to the Top of Sales Charts Alongside Jujutsu Kaisen

The latest volume of the manga Kagurabachi is selling almost as well as Jujutsu Kaisen. Both Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo‘s final volume and Kagurabachi Volume 11 came out on May 1st, and initial sales numbers show they are very close in popularity.

I’m seriously impressed with how well Kagurabachi is doing! Volume 11 is currently the #2 best-selling manga in Japan, according to Shoseki’s rankings – only behind Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Volume 3. It even outperformed other huge titles like Sakamoto Days, Blue Box, and Ichi the Witch to get there! And get this – Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Volume 2 is still hanging in there at #10, which just shows how popular both of these series are right now.

Both Kagurabachi and JJK Modulo recently generated a lot of excitement with the release of their anime trailers, which helped boost sales. Kagurabachi just revealed a new trailer announcing its anime adaptation, and JJK Modulo received a trailer to commemorate the final volume of Gege Akutami’s series.

Even before its first episode airs this summer, Kagurabachi is already generating a lot of excitement, suggesting this anime adaptation is highly anticipated. It’s hard to predict just how popular the series will become once the preview is released.

Kagurabachi’s Anime Promotion Has Been Unlike Anything Fans Have Seen

After the announcement of the Kagurabachi anime, the official social media accounts revealed a series of preview events for the first episode this summer. This “world tour” suggests the anime adaptation is already highly anticipated, and recent sales figures for the manga confirm its popularity.

I’m so excited to share some amazing news! They’re giving fans a sneak peek at the very beginning of Episode 1 this summer! The first 20 minutes will be shown at special premiere events all over the world before it officially airs next April. And get this – the tour will actually end in Japan with a full screening of the entire first episode! It’s going to be incredible!

Although specific dates and locations haven’t been revealed yet, the official announcement for the Kagurabachi world tour—scheduled for 2026—promises more details will be shared soon. This tour is just the newest example of the series’ clever and successful marketing, which has quickly gained it a lot of attention.

Across the world, people began noticing posters and billboards featuring the distinctive goldfish symbol from Chihiro’s Enten katana. These images included a QR code that linked to a website counting down to April 27th – the date the anime was officially revealed.

Since the anime was first announced, even more marketing for Kagurabachi has been appearing globally. This includes a huge billboard in New York City and a screening of the anime trailer over a busy street in Italy during the Napoli Comicon event.

Kagurabachi Was Already One of the Biggest Shonen Manga Without an Anime

Given how incredibly popular the manga has become even without an anime adaptation, it’s understandable that Shueisha is exploring its options.

The manga Kagurabachi is quickly gaining popularity, currently ranking as the #6 most popular ongoing series on Manga Plus. It’s only behind well-established anime series like One Piece, Boruto, Spy X Family, Black Clover, and Dandadan. Last year, Kagurabachi sold over 1 million copies, making it one of the top 20 best-selling manga of the year – and notably, it was the only title on that list without an existing anime adaptation.

Wow, the manga sales are incredible all on their own, even before the anime comes out! And with Volume 11 doing so well, it’s clear Kagurabachi is set to have an even bigger year. Honestly, looking at just the manga numbers, I really think Kagurabachi has a great shot at outselling Jujutsu Kaisen once the anime finally drops – it’s looking very promising!
