Kenneth Branagh’s Thor idea

Kenneth Branagh behind the camera….

Kenneth Branagh is a celebrated actor and director, and surprisingly, his Oscar win wasn’t for either of those roles – it was for the screenplay of ‘Belfast’. He’s directed a wide range of films, from Shakespearean dramas like ‘Henry V’ and ‘Hamlet’, to thrillers, horror, fairy tales, action movies, and even a Marvel superhero film, ‘Thor’. While he hasn’t returned to directing Marvel movies since, with Taika Waititi taking over the ‘Thor’ sequels, the idea of Branagh revisiting that world as director is quite interesting.

Kenneth Branagh’s Thor idea…..

In a recent interview, he expressed a desire to conclude his portrayal of the character. He’d always envisioned doing more with the role, and specifically mentioned wanting a similar approach to James Mangold’s ‘Logan’ – a powerful, individual send-off. He hopes to see Chris Hemsworth and the other actors involved get their own satisfying final stories, allowing ‘Thor’ to end on a high note.

Kenneth Branagh was open to continuing with a Thor project, saying he was “absolutely ready for another one.” However, he explained that working on Marvel films is incredibly demanding, both during filming and in post-production. He felt he needed a break to recharge, and Kevin Feige, along with the cast, were supportive of his decision.

What are the chances?

It’s unclear if he’s actually been asked to return, but he suggests Marvel’s long-term plans are already well-established. He believes there’s potential for a satisfying ending to that storyline, with those characters and actors.
