Battlefield 6’s Season 3 Battle Pass is Now Available for Pre-Order

As the May 12th release of Season 3 for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC approaches, players have noticed that EA has started allowing pre-orders for the new battle pass. A Reddit user spotted that there are two versions available: a standard battle pass, and a more comprehensive “Battlefield Pro Package” which includes perks like skipping tiers and exclusive in-game items.

The regular battle pass costs around $9.99, and the Battlefield Pro version is priced at $24.99. Players are split on the decision to allow pre-orders of the battle pass so far in advance, as some believe it gives those who pre-order an unfair advantage in unlocking weapons and items before the season officially begins.

Some players don’t mind the new battle pass pre-orders, pointing out they were planning to purchase it regardless. However, others feel it’s like buying something without knowing what’s inside, since the battle pass content isn’t available yet. On Reddit, people have also compared this to other popular shooting games like Call of Duty, which heavily monetizes but doesn’t offer pre-orders for battle passes. Apex Legends, on the other hand, routinely allows players to pre-purchase new seasonal battle passes.

Season 3 of Battlefield 6 and REDSEC is adding a lot of new content to both the standard multiplayer and the free-to-play battle royale modes. Multiplayer fans will be excited about the new map, Railway to Golmud, which is a revamped version of the popular Golmud Railway from Battlefield 4. The developers at Battlefield Studios say it’s the largest map in the game yet, about four times bigger than Mirak Valley.

In a recent post to the community, the developers shared some of the reasons behind their design choices for the updated map. They also announced that the map’s train can now travel in both directions thanks to the addition of a second engine.

Level designer Luka Grepl-Malmgren explained that their technology is more advanced now than it was 13 years ago. Two of the original level designers from the Golmud Railway map still work at DICE, and they collaborated to recreate their past work. They also took ideas that weren’t feasible in Battlefield 4 and made them a reality in Battlefield 6.

Battlefield Studios recently announced they’re still working on weapon balance. They’re looking at how weapons handle, how quickly they eliminate enemies, and making sure each weapon feels distinct and consistent. They also plan to fine-tune recoil over time, so the differences between weapons are clearer to players.

Battlefield 6 and REDSEC are now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Battlefield Studios has released a roadmap detailing future content for the game, including a remake of the Grand Bazaar map from Battlefield 3, which will be called Cairo Bazaar.
