Following the conclusion of My Hero Academia with its final season in Fall 2025, an additional chapter from the manga’s last volume was adapted. Because this chapter is part of the original story, it’s now considered the true ending. A special anime episode brought this new ending to life, but it wasn’t a dramatic finale. Instead, it focused on the everyday lives of the Class 1-A students after they became heroes, showing them dealing with the ordinary challenges of adulthood.
The heroes are finding ways to connect with each other and enjoy life, picking up new hobbies and striving for self-improvement. The series concludes with Deku admitting he’s interested in exploring romance. In a surprisingly personal moment, Deku shares his long-held dream: not to be the world’s strongest hero, but to become a teacher – even if he had unlimited power. He always envisioned a future helping others learn and grow.
My Hero Academia‘s New Ending Reveals Deku’s True Dream Was Always to Inspire Others

Bakugo asks Deku if he plans to keep teaching, and Deku confirms that he does. He explains that teaching allows him to connect with students and help them achieve their goals. Even if he still had his powers, Deku says he’d still choose to teach, because sharing his experiences with younger students is incredibly important to him. Ultimately, Deku sees teaching as a way to inspire the next generation, much like All Might inspired him.
From the beginning, Deku was motivated to become a hero by All Might, hoping to follow in his footsteps. Ultimately, his goal wasn’t just to be inspiring, but to become an inspiration to others – a path that, without a Quirk, naturally led him towards teaching. He wanted to help people overcome challenges and live fulfilling lives. Deku has clearly succeeded in this, and continues to inspire everyone he meets.
Unlike many heroes who sought fame or personal gain, Deku always wanted to be a source of hope and inspiration, just like All Might. This selfless quality is what drew All Might to choose Deku as his successor. At its heart, My Hero Academia is a story about inspiring people, and Deku consistently represents that core message. The series’ recent conclusion emphasizes this even further, highlighting Deku’s genuine aspirations.
