Crimson Desert’s Patch Version 1.05.00 – 10 Biggest Improvements

A new update for Crimson Desert is here, and let’s take a look at what’s changed! While Patch 1.05.00 isn’t as large as the previous one, it still brings some great improvements, especially for players further into the game. Here are ten of the most important new features, starting with a highly requested addition…

Boss Rematches

Players have been asking for this for a while, and now you can refight almost all the bosses! Just go back to the boss location and read a Memory Fragment – it’s marked on both the world map and minimap. You can play as Kliff, Damiane, or Oongka in these rematches, so you can test out different characters and fighting styles. Want to see if Damiane’s bicycle kicks can beat Matthias, or if Oongka’s rage surpasses Kearush the Slayer? Now you can! You’ll get your used items back after the fight, but you won’t get any extra loot, meaning you can’t farm for duplicate gear to upgrade your items. However, the developers might change this later on.

Reminisce and Resonate

So, the Rematch feature isn’t just one thing – it’s actually two different modes: Reminisce and Resonate. Reminisce lets you fight a boss exactly how you remember them from your first encounter. Honestly, it’s awesome for just completely destroying that Reed guy with a ton of explosive arrows. But if you’re looking for a real challenge and want to test how strong your character build is, go for Resonate. This mode makes the boss’s stats match yours, so it’s a tough fight! Just a heads up, it only works if your character is stronger than the boss to begin with – you can’t make a boss super powerful and then try to beat them with a weak character.

Re-Blockades

Players who enjoy combat will be excited about the new Re-blockades feature. Once you’ve cleared out forts and quarries, 13 different factions can now retake these locations, meaning you’ll have to fight to hold them again. Re-blockades can happen whenever you load a game or sleep – basically, after any loading screen. Fortunately, there’s an option to control how often this happens, which we’ll explain soon.

Fortunately, the developers aren’t stopping here. They plan to add more factions and strongholds, and make enemies tougher to defeat when you try to recapture territory. They’re also working on improving how Liberation and Re-blockade systems work, though details on those changes are still coming.

Re-Blockade Frequency Settings

If you prefer a peaceful game, or like the idea of Kliff’s choices having lasting consequences by eliminating problems in each area, the Re-blockades might seem disruptive. Luckily, you can adjust how often they happen. Go to Settings, then the Gameplay tab, and look for the ‘Re-blockade Frequency’ option. It’s set to ‘Conflict’ by default, meaning they’ll occur infrequently. Choosing ‘War’ will make them happen constantly, creating a feeling of endless conflict. But if you select ‘Stable’, Re-blockades will rarely occur, bringing lasting peace – something Kliff would dread!

New Legendary Animals

The biggest draws are the revamped boss fights and blocked areas, but there’s also new content like two Legendary Animals: the Iron Eagle (found under specific circumstances) and the Hyacinth Macaw. The best part? You can keep them as pets and call them into battle when you need help. However, there’s a bug: if you try to tame the Macaw while you already have the Iron Eagle, both pets might become unusable. It seems to only affect the Macaw right now, so it’s a good idea to save your game before attempting to tame it.

Crop Harvesting, Mission Dispatch and Other Improvements

We’ve made a few helpful improvements around the camp. You’ll now always get at least two harvests from your crops, even if you forget to water or fertilize them. Missions that you don’t have enough resources for will now automatically cancel, and expanding your camp will correctly display new housing items in the building menu.

More UI improvements

We’ve addressed an issue where the Skills menu would incorrectly open to Kliff’s skill tree when playing as Damiane or Oongka. Now, the correct character’s skills will appear right away. This patch also includes many smaller improvements, like clearer teleport paths on the Abyss map and visible owned pets on the minimap at Greymanes camp. Plus, a bug causing incorrect chapter names in saved games has been fixed – just make a new manual save to see the change.

Dynamic Multi Frame Generation on PC

PC players with an RTX 50 series graphics card can now enjoy even smoother gameplay thanks to a new feature called Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S users will get improved image clarity with a new Sharpness Enhancement option. Everyone – on all platforms – will notice more realistic rain effects on trees and better-looking animals. While not a huge visual overhaul, these improvements are a nice addition, especially following the significant scenery enhancements in the last update.

Improvements to NPC Lines and Voices

Although there aren’t any big new story additions planned right now, the developers deserve praise for the subtle ways they’re enhancing the existing narrative. They’ve refined cutscenes with more natural dialogue, and improved voice acting and how characters react to situations, making everything feel more realistic. These changes boost immersion, making the game world and its characters feel more lively and believable, which is a great improvement.

All the Other Little Additions

This update includes a lot of small improvements you might not even notice right away. You can now pet or carry goose and duck companions, and there’s a new shop specifically for disguises if you’re missing a set. Previously uncollectible gold bars scattered throughout the world can now be gathered as ‘Crude Gold Bars’. Weapons now offer better damage reduction, and throwing enemies with Damiane and Oongka feels more fluid. We’ve even refined the footstep sounds for certain characters.

This update essentially concludes the development plan for Crimson Desert. The developers have delivered on all their initial promises, and while they have future plans like the Re-blockade feature, it’s a good time for the team to take a break. The level of support provided so soon after launch is remarkable, and we’re optimistic about the game’s future. As it stands, Crimson Desert is in a great place, making it an excellent time for new players to start playing.
