Rumour: Assassin’s Creed Invictus Is So Bad That It Could Get Cancelled

Playtesting for a new online Assassin’s Creed game, currently known as Assassin’s Creed Invictus, isn’t going well, and there’s talk that Ubisoft might cancel the project altogether.

YouTuber xJ0nathon recently shared that initial tests, conducted on April 30th, 2026, were very poor. While the release is currently planned for later this year, he believes there’s a strong possibility it will be delayed or scrapped altogether.

Insider Gaming confirmed the reports and spoke to their own sources for more details. They learned the game, while promising, is further behind in development than expected after years of work. The project has faced “multiple” delays during its production.

This new multiplayer game is being compared to both Assassin’s Creed and Fall Guys. While it won’t have the colorful, cartoon look of Fall Guys, it shares that game’s format of players competing in rounds where players are eliminated until only one remains. The game is being developed by the team behind For Honor, and they aim to create a game that continues to be updated and played for a long time, similar to their previous success.

Assassin’s Creed Invictus is part of a large number of Assassin’s Creed games Ubisoft is developing, including new installments, remakes, and spin-offs. Reports from 2025 revealed plans for several projects to grow the Assassin’s Creed universe. Alongside Invictus, Ubisoft is working on Assassin’s Creed Emerald, which will focus on cooperative gameplay, as well as confirmed titles like Assassin’s Creed Hexe and Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, launching this summer.
