Black Clover Disappointingly Ends Without Answering Its Biggest Asta Question

After eleven years, the popular manga Black Clover has finished its run, but the ending left some fans wanting more, particularly regarding Asta’s romantic future. The series, created by Yuki Tabata, concluded this spring, charting a new course for the Clover Kingdom and its people. With the defeat of Lucius Zogratis and the Paladins, peace has been restored, allowing Asta to focus on his next big goal.

The final chapters of Black Clover deliver on the central rivalry between Asta and Yuno, culminating in a decisive battle to determine the next Wizard King. While this paves the way for Asta’s success, the ending feels incomplete because it doesn’t resolve the potential romantic relationships between Asta and characters like Noelle Silva and Mimosa Vermillion. Despite the generally happy conclusion, fans are left wondering who Asta will ultimately end up with.

Black Clover Ends Without Final Asta Romance With Noelle or Mimosa

Chapter 392 of Black Clover is set two years after the battle against Lucius Zogratis, following Asta’s victory over Yuno and his ascension to Wizard King – the youngest in Clover Kingdom’s history. The final chapter shows what everyone is up to now that a new, peaceful era has begun. It confirms several developing romantic relationships from the past ten years, though it doesn’t quite deliver on the biggest romance fans were hoping for.

The series concludes with Noelle and Mimosa still holding back their feelings for Asta. They admit they were waiting for Asta’s duties as Wizard King to calm down before making a move, and now a competitive dynamic begins between them. However, many fans are disappointed with this outcome, especially considering other characters have already found love and started families. The lack of progress for both Noelle and Asta feels particularly unsatisfying.

What Does This Mean for Asta?

The final story arc of Black Clover started with Asta revealing his feelings to Sister Lily, who didn’t reciprocate. Noelle and Mimosa witnessed this, and were surprised to learn Asta was interested in anyone romantically. This led fans to believe Asta might finally find love with one of them as the series concluded, and several moments during the final battles seemed to suggest that a romance was developing.

I have to admit, I was a little let down by how things turned out with Asta’s romantic life. It’s not that he needs a romantic interest – becoming the Wizard King clearly takes priority, and that’s fine. It just feels like a loose end, especially for those of us who were hoping for some resolution. Maybe the author, Tabata, will revisit it later and give us a definitive answer about who Asta ends up with, but right now, it feels like we’re left hanging.
