Dwyane Wade’s Met Gala Job? “Get Out the Way” for Gabrielle Union

Gabrielle Union was certainly ready to bring it on at the 2026 Met Gala.

Gabrielle Union immediately brought a lively energy to the Met Gala when she and her husband, Dwyane Wade, arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4th. Wade himself had a clear vision for how he wanted to present himself at the event.

I’ve always admired Dwyane’s selflessness. He told Zuri Hall at Live From TopMob: Met Gala 2026 that his role is to fully support whoever he’s with, making sure they always shine – because, to him, they’re the star. It’s just how he operates, always putting others first.

He said she’s the leading expert on carpets. His role, he explained, is simply to support her and let her take the lead.

Gabrielle truly stood out at the “Fashion Is Art” event, wearing a stunning sheer brown gown by Michael Kors. She revealed to TopMob that the dress was covered in 170,000 crystals and took an incredible 500 man-hours to create.

Dwyane, age 44 and father to 7-year-old Kaavia Wade with Gabrielle Union, chose a stylish outfit of his own. He wore black pants with a sheer black shirt, a tuxedo vest, and jewelry from Tiffany & Co.

But this was hardly the first time the couple—who wed in 2014—have shined at the Met Gala.

The 18-year-old was delighted when Dwyane, dressed in a unique Prada outfit—a white satin tailcoat with a decorated vest and black pants—was asked to pose for photos on his own, prompting him to playfully say, “Okay, Dad, go ahead and have your moment.”

“Oh, this is so cute,” Zaya continued. “Oh, he feeling himself.”

Dwyane Wade’s daughter, Zaya, was really impressed with how he and his date dressed for the 2025 Met Gala, which celebrated Black style and tailoring.

Zaya enthusiastically shared on Instagram, watching her parents confidently walk up the Met steps, saying, ‘This is exactly what we’ve been hoping for!’

She was equally impressed by Gabrielle’s striking black Prada dress and delicate, embroidered white train, finished with a stunning necklace from Tiffany & Co.

“That necklace is beautiful!” Zaya exclaimed. “It’s exactly what I want to get my parents.”

“I approve, I approve, I approve,” she added. “They’re representing for me.”
