The Worms games have been popular for years, and despite not being as widely played now, Team 17 continues to release new versions for the PlayStation 5.
The studio seems to be developing a new Worms game, which isn’t unexpected. However, a recent leak suggests they’re trying something different with this installment.
A new Worms game, currently known as Project Arrakis, is reportedly being playtested, according to a source online using the name Evil Leeker man.
Funnily enough, the first leak came in response to the seemingly fake Assassin’s Creed leak:
I’m so excited! Leaks just dropped showing screenshots of this game nobody even knew was coming, and even a peek at its Steam page! It seems pretty legit now, which is awesome.
The new game is called Worms Galactic Tactics, and early screenshots suggest it’s a 3D, turn-based strategy game similar to XCOM.
So, Worms is already a turn-based strategy game, but it’s 2D and you can move your worms anywhere. Honestly, making a 3D version feels like a really natural step, and it makes total sense to me as a player.
If this information is genuine – and the source isn’t very reliable, to be honest – then it’s likely true, especially with so many screenshots circulating.
The time of year when lots of big video game news is revealed is almost here! Summer Game Fest is starting to build excitement, and it looks like a new Worms game might be announced soon – we’ll just have to wait and find out.
Okay, so I just saw this leak and I’m seriously excited about the idea of a Worms game that plays like XCOM! Does anyone else think that sounds amazing? Is this thing actually happening, though? Let me know what you all think in the comments – I’m dying to hear your opinions!
