Marvel Announces 5 New Series Starring Black Panther, She-Hulk, X-Men and More

A significant transformation is underway within Marvel’s cosmic realm, and it kicks off with the “Imperial” event. This four-part series is penned by Jonathan Hickman and illustrated by Iban Coello and Federico Vicentini, shaping the foundation for a fresh epoch of cosmic storytelling in the Marvel Universe. Readers have seen figures such as the Hulk, She-Hulk, Black Panther, Shuri, Nova, Star-Lord, among others, at the heart of a political intrigue, and the aftermath is ongoing in the primary “Imperial” series. Post this, numerous characters will be brought to the forefront in forthcoming “Imperial” spinoff series, and we’ve learned the initial titles for these series now.

Marvel unveiled five upcoming comic book series stemming from the Imperial saga at the Marvel Comics: Next Big Thing Panel during San Diego Comic-Con: Planet She-Hulk, Nova: Centurion, Black Panther: Intergalactic, Exiles, and Imperial Guardians. These titles will be based on the Imperial War one-shots that are due out over the coming months, with publication starting in November. The debut issues include Planet She-Hulk by Stephanie Phillips (Phoenix) and Aaron Kuder (Daredevil), as well as Nova: Centurion by Jed MacKay (X-Men) and Álvaro López (Predator: Black, White & Blood). Both authors will also be penning their respective Imperial War one-shots.

Phillips expressed tremendous enthusiasm, exclaiming, ‘Working with Aaron is simply thrilling!’ He further compared the upcoming ‘Planet She-Hulk’ to ‘Game of Thrones’, hinting at elements unrelated to She-Hulk. The series finds her thrust into an unfamiliar world where she must adapt, encountering witches, rebels, and cannibals. It promises to be an engaging spectacle. They aim to make it grand, as she wields a massive sword, and they eagerly hope for the opportunity to use it.

This tale brings together various autonomous forces from the Marvel Universe’s cosmic sector, including the Kree, the Shi’ar, the Skrulls, and others, in a grand science fiction saga. Each issue reveals a new event or secret, with one leading to another in a series of Russian nesting doll structures, much like a chain reaction. Essentially, it’s an epic cosmic conflict as described by Brevoort.
