Pragmata looked and played great on the enhanced PlayStation 5 Pro, and it’s now received a further improvement.
So, as Digital Foundry originally pointed out, the game was actually running internally at 864p, and then using something called PSSR2 to stretch that up to 4K. It’s basically a clever trick to make the game look like it’s native 4K, but it’s not quite the same thing.
Thanks to enhancements to Sony’s upscaling technology, the image was remarkably clear, and the ray tracing effects from the original PS5’s Resolution Mode were still present.
One problem was that reflections didn’t appear as crisp as they could due to the game’s internal resolution. This has been fixed in the latest update, version 1.21, which increases the internal resolution from 864p to 1080p, making reflections sharper.
The game continues to use PSSR2 technology to enhance the image to 4K, and with improved data, reflections now appear much clearer. That’s a win!
The only potential drawback is that improving the resolution might occasionally cause some stuttering, but displays with VRR technology should handle those brief interruptions without a problem.
You can see some side-by-side examples shared by Digital Foundry through here.
Simply put, if you haven’t played this excellent Capcom shooting game yet, the newest update will make it look even better on the PS5 Pro, so it’s worth checking out.
