All 3 Seasons of a Cancelled Sci-Fi Show From the Showrunners of Lost and House of the Dragon Just Joined Tubi

Both Lost and House of the Dragon are hugely popular shows, and back in 2016, the universes of those two series briefly combined in a sci-fi show that unfortunately didn’t last very long. Though it only ran for three seasons and received excellent reviews, it was cancelled. Now, eight years later, you can watch all the episodes of this hidden gem for free on Tubi.

All 36 episodes of the sci-fi series Colony are now available to stream on Tubi. Created by Carlton Cuse (of Lost) and Ryan J. Condal (House of the Dragon), the show follows an alien invasion in Los Angeles. Although originally intended to run for five seasons, Colony was cancelled by USA Network after just three due to falling ratings and expensive production costs. Since then, finding where to watch the series has been tricky. After leaving Netflix in 2022, it moved between various paid streaming services. But now, Tubi is offering the entire series for free, starting May 1st.

USA Network’s Colony Is an Overlooked Sci-Fi Show That Deserves Your Attention

Despite being cancelled after only a few seasons, Colony is a surprisingly good sci-fi series. The show boasts excellent production values and strong acting, particularly from Josh Holloway (known from Lost) and Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead). Set in a Los Angeles occupied by enigmatic aliens, Colony depicts a divided city controlled by alien forces and a harsh, locally-staffed police force. The story primarily follows the Bowman family – Will, a former FBI agent, and his wife Katie – who find themselves on opposite sides of the resistance after their son goes missing during the invasion, all while trying to protect him.

The USA Network series Colony received consistently high praise during its three seasons, achieving a 92% average critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and even a perfect 100% in its second season. Critics described it as a captivating and promising show, potentially the network’s best since Suits. Unlike many alien invasion stories focused on action, Colony distinguished itself by offering a realistic and suspenseful look at life after the invasion, exploring themes of occupation and difficult moral choices. The show expertly put its characters in impossible dilemmas, forcing them to balance their own safety, their values, and the well-being of their families. It also built a compelling and detailed world. Importantly, Colony maintained its quality throughout its run, becoming even stronger with each season and making it a great choice for a binge-watching session.

Tubi is offering a lot of great sci-fi content this May! Along with the series Colony, they’ve added all episodes of the short-lived Fox drama Terra Nova. On the movie side, you can now stream titles like Battlefield Earth, Predators, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and a variety of Star Trek films – all for free.
