The buzz was right – a new Star Fox game is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 25th! While it’s being called ‘new,’ it’s actually a revamped version of Star Fox 64. It features completely updated graphics and character designs that are closer to the original Star Fox look. You can see a preview below.
The levels themselves haven’t changed, but everything in them looks dramatically better. We’ve completely overhauled the graphics – from things like explosions and how the spaceships look, to the overall environments. Each location, whether it’s Zoness with its giant sea serpent or the wreckage of Sector Y, now has a ton of new details. And there’s more to it than just that!
The game now features new scenes and introductions to each mission where you can see the characters talk to each other. Nintendo has also included three difficulty levels – Easy, Normal, and Expert – to suit players of all skill levels. The Easy mode gives beginners a longer-lasting shield. For those who want a real challenge, Challenge Mode lets you replay completed levels and tackle extra objectives not found in the main story.
I’m really excited about Battle Mode coming back – it’s totally been rebuilt! Now you can jump into 4v4 matches on three different stages, and each one has its own unique twist. We’re talking about stuff like capturing zones, dodging falling rocks, collecting energy, or even grabbing cargo from space pirates. Plus, the game handles matchmaking for you, but if I want to play with friends, I can use GameShare with up to four people, either locally or online using GameChat. It’s a great way to team up!
You can also create private matches to play with friends. The Switch 2 version includes mouse aiming using the Joy-Con 2 controllers. Plus, there’s a co-op mode where one player controls the ship’s movement and the other handles the weapons. We’ll share more information soon, so keep an eye out!
