Red Dead Redemption 3 Step Aside, New Open-World Western RPG Free To Try Now

If you’re eager for another game like Red Dead Redemption 3, there’s a new option coming to Steam that you can try now. Fans have been hoping for a sequel to Red Dead Redemption 2 ever since it was released in 2018. While Rockstar Games hasn’t announced a third game yet, a co-founder recently hinted that they might start working on it after the release of GTA 6.

It’s a mixed bag of news. While it likely means we’ll eventually get Red Dead Redemption 3, it also suggests GTA 6 isn’t coming out until November 19, 2026. Similar to games like Red Dead Redemption, Frontier Legends is an open-world Western adventure. You’ll explore the American frontier, encounter memorable characters, tame horses, and shape your character’s story through your choices.

Okay, so besides the action, Frontier Legends lets you build up your own town, which is seriously cool. You start small, but you can really watch it grow into a thriving place. People will actually move in – NPCs with different jobs and everything – making it feel like a real community. But here’s the thing: how successful your town becomes is totally up to me! If I don’t keep things running smoothly and protect it, the wilderness will eventually take over. It’s a lot of responsibility, but it’s awesome.

Beyond the main story, the game offers a lot to discover, like changing day and night, realistic weather, collecting and managing resources, and threats from both bandits and the environment itself.

Currently, there’s no set release date for Frontier Legends, but the developers plan to launch an Early Access version soon. You can add it to your Steam Wishlist now, and even try it out with a free demo that’s available to download and play while you wait.
