Capcom announced that it would be released after Golden Week, and now the new minigame for Resident Evil Requiem, “Leon Must Die Forever,” is available! Once you finish the main story, you can play as Leon and battle your way through locations you’ll recognize, ultimately facing a final boss.
It’s not quite a Mercenaries mode, but this offers five difficulty levels and still challenges you to complete objectives quickly. It can be tough with stronger enemies appearing, but defeating them fills a meter, letting you choose one of three upgrades for your character. Each attempt feels unique, with different options available each time you play, giving it a bit of a rogue-like feel.
One player even described Leon appearing with a purple aura and glowing red eyes, relentlessly attacking a zombie with a hatchet, as if he couldn’t get enough. In short, those who enjoy action-packed combat will be very pleased with this new version.
The PC version of the game now supports the DualSense controller’s features like adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and motion sensor. Several bugs have also been fixed. Capcom also announced that the first Resident Evil amiibo figures, featuring Grace Ashcroft and Leon, will be released on July 30th for Nintendo Switch 2, though Grace Ashcroft isn’t included in this new game mode.
Resident Evil: Requiem is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Since its release on February 28th, the game has sold seven million copies. You can read our review of the game here.
