So, it’s really disappointing to share, but the new horror game I’ve been working on, Paranormal Activity: Threshold, has been cancelled. Me, as the only developer at DarkStone Digital, had to make the tough call. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who supported my last game, The Mortuary Assistant, and showed interest in this new project. It means a lot.
Clarke explained the movie was cancelled because he needed more time to work on Paranormal Activity: Threshold, but Paramount, the studio that owns the Paranormal Activity franchise, wouldn’t grant him that time. He decided it was better to end the project than release a poorly made film.
Look, making games is hard, especially when you’re doing it all yourself. I realized my game needed more polish – I wanted to make sure it was the best it could be. Thankfully, DreadXP totally understood and supported me. Together, we asked Paramount if we could have a little more time to finish things up.
Unfortunately, Paramount decided not to continue funding the project. That left me in a difficult position: I could either quickly finish a product I wouldn’t be happy with, or end our partnership. I chose to end it.
Clarke mentioned that although this particular game project is finished, he isn’t retiring from game development. He plans to take a vacation to rest and recharge before starting work on future horror games.
He said, “This chapter of my work is finished, but I’ll be back.” He plans to take a short break, but is looking forward to continuing his exploration of the horror world that his audience has so kindly welcomed him into. He’s already eager to see what new terrors he’ll uncover next.
The game Paranormal Activity: Threshold was revealed a while back. DarkStone Digital shared a new trailer in October 2025, offering a preview of the game’s horror elements. The trailer also confirmed that the game would use the found footage style, similar to the Paranormal Activity films.
The show was planned to follow Daniel and Jessica Stewart as they renovated a run-down old house, documenting the process with a video camera. Things took a frightening turn when they found odd symbols and objects concealed within the walls, and a sinister force began to torment the couple.
DarkStone Digital had big plans for the game, intending to let players experience different versions of events within the house. This would have allowed them to uncover the mysteries surrounding the haunting of the Stewarts, and it would have given Paranormal Activity: Threshold a lot of replay value.

Hi everyone, I have some exciting news! I wanted to thank you all for your continued support of my work and for being such great fans of indie games. 🖤🖤
