Lewis Pullman lands a big 2026 success for his major Netflix project.
The movie Remarkably Bright Creatures is now available on Netflix and is getting positive reviews! It currently has an 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, though that score could change as more reviews come in.
The movie Remarkably Bright Creatures, based on Shelby Van Pelt’s novel, tells the story of a widow searching for joy. She unexpectedly finds connection with a giant Pacific octopus and a troubled young man, and together, they uncover a mystery that helps them all rediscover the magic in life.
Hollywood is planning to adapt several books into movies, with Remarkably Bright Creatures being a prominent example, alongside Netflix’s upcoming reboot of Narnia. As of now, audience ratings for the Narnia film haven’t been released yet.
Now that Remarkably Bright Creatures is available on Netflix, viewers will soon discover its official rating. The movie was directed by Olivia Newman, who also co-wrote the script with John Whittington.
The drama features Sally Field as Tova and Alfred Molina as Marcellus, with supporting roles played by Kathy Baker, Joan Chen, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Beth Grant, Colm Meaney, and Laura Harris. Although it just premiered, Remarkably Bright Creatures has already earned two nominations for the Gotham TV Awards – one for Outstanding Original Film and another for Sally Field’s performance. In a review for ScreenRant, Molly Freeman highlighted director Newman’s ability to create a deeply personal connection with the characters, vividly portraying the atmosphere of a small town in the Pacific Northwest. Freeman also praised the cast’s performances, noting that they enhanced an already compelling story, and the unique concept of an octopus narrator helped the film stand out.
Pullman recently had a significant victory, and fans won’t have to wait long to see him return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’ll first appear in the 2025 film Thunderbolts, then reprise his role as Sentry in Avengers: Doomsday, a major film slated for release on December 18, 2026.
Remarkably Bright Creatures is now available for streaming on Netflix.
