One Piece Just Debuted Its Most Game-Changing Character Since Joyboy and Sun God Nika

The One Piece manga is moving towards the peak of its current battle within the Elbaph arc, but it’s also been enriching its backstory and giving a renewed purpose to a previously overlooked character. With Monkey D. Luffy’s awakening of Gear Fifth, and its connection to Joyboy and the Sun God Nika, the role of gods in the One Piece world has become much more prominent. The Elbaph arc was anticipated to delve further into this topic, and it’s doing so through the newly revealed Harley text.

The recent storyline has revealed Imu’s identity, increasingly depicting him as a powerful, almost god-like figure connected to a dark realm, and an enemy to the world. Given the focus on deities, fans expected to see more gods introduced, particularly those linked to Luffy – like the Sun God Nika, Joyboy, and Loki, the Earth God. However, the newest chapter of One Piece unexpectedly highlighted the Rain God, Zaza, suggesting this character will play a crucial role. This hints that Zaza could be a key ally for Luffy in the upcoming final battle against Imu and his army.

One Piece Chapter 1182 Gives New Significance to the Series’ Most Important God

In One Piece Chapter 1182, titled “Zaza,” Killingham reveals he’s summoned his greatest fear: a dream demon. Even Sommers is worried until Killingham assures him he can control it. Before showing the creature, Killingham describes it as a monster feared by the people who live in the sky, who dread the Rain God for bringing rain. He explains that the Rain God, Zaza, is considered a major boogeyman, alongside the D clan and the Sun God Nika. This instantly establishes Zaza as a being on the same level of power as Nika, and highlights why those who live in the sky are so terrified of both of them.

Since rain originates from the sea – a major weakness for those who eat Devil Fruits – Zaza appears to be a strong opponent to figures like Imu and his forces. The story suggests that Monkey D. Dragon might be connected to the Rain or Sea God, given his powers over storms and rain. Alternatively, some believe Shirahoshi, as Poseidon, could be the one with this divine connection, controlling the sea kings.

Both of these characters seem to be enemies of the World Government and Imu, putting them on the same side as Luffy, who is predicted to lead the fight against them. Because of his power to negate Devil Fruit abilities, and the fact that even the series’ villains fear him, Zaza is quickly becoming a major player in One Piece, and will likely have a crucial role in how the story ends.
