Gears of War: E-Day’s AAA Triplemania 34 Sponsorship Indicates September Release Window

Although Microsoft hasn’t announced a release date for Gears of War: E-Day, a recent sponsorship deal with WWE suggests it could be released in September. During the WWE Backlash event, it was revealed that Gears of War: E-Day is the official sponsor of AAA Triplemania 34, a two-day wrestling event happening September 11th and 13th in Mexico City.

Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, the Mexican wrestling company WWE acquired in 2025 and now operates as a subsidiary, announced a partnership in a video posted on social media. The video promotes an upcoming show with highlights of the wrestlers involved, and concludes with the logo for Gears of War: E-Day displayed beneath the show’s graphic.

Although a sponsorship doesn’t guarantee a game’s release date, it’s interesting to note that typically only released games sponsor events like Triplemania 34. This is because the wide exposure from a show like that would be incredibly valuable for Microsoft and the game’s developer, The Coalition, to promote their game in countries beyond the US.

We’ll be learning more about Gears of War: E-Day during a 30-minute presentation on June 7th. The presentation will likely show off the beginning of the game’s story, how the gameplay works, and when you can expect to play it.

Xbox’s Matt Booty recently shared that the upcoming Gears Direct is on its way. He mentioned they’ll likely have around 30 minutes of content to showcase, which he’s very pleased about. Booty also expressed his admiration for the development team and excitement for the game, promising a substantial 30-minute look at what they’ve been working on.

So far, not much is known about Gears of War: E-Day except that it’s a prequel set during the original Emergence Day. The game will feature the Locust as the main enemies, and players will take control of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago.

The Coalition calls this game their most ambitious project to date. They’ve also confirmed it was built entirely from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5.

We’re going back to where it all began with Marcus and Dom facing the Locust for the very first time. It’s the perfect starting point for anyone new to the Gears world, and we’re excited to reveal more details next year.

The classic game Gears of War: E-Day is being released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Cliff Bleszinski, a former designer on the Gears of War series, believes returning to the fight against the Locust is a positive move for the franchise.
