Fumi Games’ detective game, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, has been a hit with critics and players alike, selling around 730,000 copies. PlaySide Games, the publisher, announced last week that the game has generated approximately $21.4 million in sales since its release on April 16th, with console sales making up half of the total.
PlaySide generated $13 million in revenue before paying royalties. They’ve also already earned back all the money they spent on publishing, marketing, and milestone payments. The company anticipates receiving significant cash soon due to consistently strong sales.
Honestly, for a brand new game from Fumi Games – especially considering it was delayed a few times to make sure it was good – I’m really impressed with how it turned out. They’ve already been pumping out fixes since launch, which is awesome to see. But they’re not stopping there! They’re working on a big paid expansion, and it sounds like a completely fresh story starring Jack Pepper. We’re looking at a release sometime after the end of 2026, though, so it’s going to be a wait.
The game is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. You play as Pepper in the city of Mouseburg, a reimagining of the 1930s, and investigate the vanishing of his friend, magician Steve Bandel. The mystery quickly unfolds into a larger conspiracy reaching the top levels of power. You can find a detailed review – where we gave it a 9/10 score – for more information.
