Montenegro is competing in Eurovision again this year, aiming for a stronger result after finishing last in the semi-finals last time.
Montenegro returned to Eurovision last year after a three-year absence, and they’re aiming for a better result this time, hoping to ultimately win the competition.
The country has never won the song contest, and their highest finish was 13th place in 2015. Could 2026 finally be their year to win?
As we wait to find out, scroll on to find out more about Montenegro’s Eurovision 2026 entry.

I recently discovered Tamara Živković, and let me tell you, this singer is something special. She started performing incredibly early – at just 14 years old! What really struck me was her unique approach, blending her flute playing with her vocals right from her very first solo performance. It was a really interesting and promising debut.
She first appeared on television in 2016 as a contestant on the Serbian junior singing competition, Pinkove Zvezdice. Several years later, she competed on Zvezde Granda, reaching the final round.
Tamara has experience with Eurovision, previously entering Montenegro’s competition to choose their 2025 entry. While she didn’t win, she placed ninth.

Where did Montenegro place in 2025 Eurovision Song Contest?
Last year wasn’t Montenegro’s year at Eurovision, unfortunately. As a big fan, it really stung to see them come in last place in the second semi-final – they just didn’t make it to the grand final, and it was a tough result.
Montenegro competed in Eurovision again last year, after taking a break from the competition in 2022.

As a huge fan of Eurovision, I’ve been really troubled by the controversy surrounding Israel’s participation this year, given everything happening in Gaza. It’s sparked a lot of debate, and honestly, it’s hard to enjoy the music when there’s such a serious situation unfolding. Many people feel it’s wrong to include them while the conflict continues, and it’s been a really difficult topic for the whole Eurovision community.
Several countries are choosing not to participate in the contest this year because the organization in charge, the European Broadcasting Union, decided against banning Israel from competing.
In December 2025, the EBU held a meeting where members voted to create rules preventing governments or outside groups from unfairly pushing certain songs to sway how people vote. However, they did not vote on whether Israel would be allowed to participate.
The European Broadcasting Union announced that most of its members decided another vote on whether to continue with the Eurovision Song Contest wasn’t necessary. They confirmed that the 2026 contest will go ahead as scheduled, with extra safety measures in place.
After that, Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Iceland announced they wouldn’t be competing in Eurovision this year.
Ireland’s public broadcaster, RTÉ, has decided not to participate in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. They stated that participating would be inappropriate given the significant loss of life and the severe humanitarian crisis affecting civilians in the region.
As a long-time viewer, I understand the BBC is backing the EBU’s decision, and they’ve put out a statement explaining why. Basically, they feel it comes down to upholding the competition’s rules and making sure everyone feels welcome. It’s about fairness and sticking to what’s been agreed upon, according to the broadcaster.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 final will take place on Saturday 16 May 2026.
