Eurovision begins tonight with the first semi-final! Fifteen countries will compete for a chance to perform in the grand final this weekend.
As much as I love focusing on the actors, let’s be real – these days, people are just as interested in who’s hosting the show! It feels like the hosts always end up trending on social media, and everyone’s got an opinion about them.
Victoria Swarovski and Michael Ostrowski will host this year’s 70th annual song contest. They’ve been called dynamic, energetic, and incredibly talented presenters.
According to ORF programme director Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz, the goal is to create a fantastic and memorable TV experience for viewers worldwide. They developed a strong concept and then chose Victoria Swarovski and Michael Ostrowski to host, believing them to be a dynamic and perfect duo. Both hosts are passionate about the Contest and will be excellent representatives, leaving a lasting impression with their work.

Victoria Swarovski is an Austrian singer, model, and TV personality, and she’s also part of the famous Swarovski jewelry family.
At age 17, she began her music career by signing with Sony Music and performing the theme song, “There’s a Place for Us,” for the 2010 film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. More recently, in 2018, she took over as co-host of Let’s Dance, a show she herself had won in 2016. She also currently hosts Das Supertalent, the German version of Britain’s Got Talent.
Who is Michael Ostrowski?

Age: 53
Job: Actor and screenwriter
Instagram: @lucky_____mike
I’m a big fan of discovering new talent, and Michael Ostrowski is definitely an actor to watch! He’s Austrian, and he’s both an actor and a screenwriter. Most people probably know him from the really fun 2004 film Nacktschnecken, but he’s also been in a few other interesting projects like Dark Rivers, The Hawk, and Contact High. I’m always excited to see what he does next!
He received the Austrian Film Award for Best Screenplay in 2011 for his comedy, The Unintentional Kidnapping of Mrs. Elfriede Ott.

The Eurovision Song Contest has received a lot of criticism for letting Israel compete this year, given the current war happening in Gaza.
Several countries are choosing not to participate in this year’s contest because the European Broadcasting Union decided against banning Israel from competing.
In December 2025, the EBU held a meeting where members voted to create rules preventing governments or outside groups from unfairly pushing certain songs to sway voting results. However, they did not vote on whether Israel would be allowed to participate.
The European Broadcasting Union announced that most of its members decided another vote on whether to participate wasn’t necessary. They confirmed that the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest will go ahead as scheduled, with extra safety measures added.
After that announcement, Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Iceland all stated they would not be competing in Eurovision this year.
Ireland’s public broadcaster, RTÉ, has stated that it believes it’s impossible to participate in the upcoming contest due to the devastating loss of life and ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which continues to endanger civilians.
The BBC, the UK broadcaster for the competition, backs the EBU’s decision. In a statement, they explained it’s about following the competition rules and ensuring everyone feels welcome.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 final will take place on Saturday 16 May 2026.
