Nintendo has revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be available on both the Nintendo Switch and the newer Nintendo Switch 2. The game, which follows The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, was first released in 2023 for the Switch, and then came to the Switch 2 in 2025 when that console launched. If the pattern holds, we can expect the next major Legend of Zelda game around 2029, making it a likely exclusive for the Nintendo Switch 2. However, that’s still several years off. For dedicated fans, Nintendo has a special treat planned for this September.
Nintendo announced on September 17th that they will be releasing a new amiibo figure: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Mineru’s Construct. Pre-orders are already open, and the figure will cost $35. This amiibo has movable arms, letting you pose it however you like. When used with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, it will give you random in-game items. Nintendo also says you might receive a special design for Link’s paraglider in Tears of the Kingdom.

Character Debuted in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Okay, so if you haven’t heard of Mineru, she first showed up in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. She’s also made her way into Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment which was cool. But get this – if you’re an Animal Crossing: New Horizons player, you might recognize her! She was added as a villager in an update back in January 2026. It was a pretty awesome surprise to see her pop up there!
This character is known as the Sage of Spirit, and she’s one of the last remaining members of the ancient Zonai people, along with her brother, Raura.
I’ve been seeing a lot of chatter online about the new amiibo, and it’s got me thinking. Historically, Nintendo releases amiibo around the time of big Zelda news or game drops. So, with this one coming out on September 17th, a lot of us are hoping for a new Zelda game or maybe some DLC. But honestly, nothing’s been officially announced yet. It’s just cool to finally see this amiibo hit shelves – it was first teased almost a year ago!
