It’s been a rocky road to release for season 3 ofGood Omens.
The final season of the popular fantasy series on Prime Video was shorter than planned, originally intended to have six episodes. Instead, it concluded with a single, extended finale directed by Rachel Talalay. Author Neil Gaiman contributed to the finale’s writing, but he left the production team after accusations of sexual misconduct were made against him – accusations he firmly denies.
As we’ve mentioned before, and as the final episode highlights, Good Omens is about more than just any single character. So, what happens to Aziraphale and Crowley, played by Michael Sheen and David Tennant? The last season ended with them parting ways – Crowley confessed his feelings, and Aziraphale took a new job in Heaven.
Things aren’t going well for either of them since their split. Crowley is really struggling, and Aziraphale’s new job as Supreme Archangel isn’t making him happy – he’s actually causing problems in Heaven. To make matters worse, the end of the world is approaching, and they need to work together to fix things with each other and save everything.
No pressure.

It’s not surprising that the latest episode feels hurried. Plots that likely needed six episodes to develop are crammed into a much shorter timeframe. This impacts the whole episode, making important reveals feel overly obvious, some characters seem like caricatures, and major problems are resolved far too quickly.
The show doesn’t give enough screen time to many of its actors, both returning and new, notably underutilizing Toby Jones and Tanya Moodie. However, newcomer Bilal Hasna stands out with a funny and hesitant portrayal of Jesus. Thankfully, he appears just enough to become a welcome and enjoyable addition to the series, bringing to mind the show’s first season.
Ultimately, the incredible chemistry between Michael Sheen and David Tennant remains the heart of the show, and they brilliantly carry the finale. The story truly revolves around Aziraphale and Crowley facing yet another apocalypse and going on one final adventure—complete with their iconic Bentley and bookshop. Despite any flaws, their captivating performances make you completely invested in this unlikely duo from Heaven and Hell.
Good Omens continues to sparkle, with Aziraphale finding himself in increasingly unexpected trouble thanks to a particular mischievous demon. It’s funny, touching, and features a surprisingly large amount of theatrical makeup at one point.
The ending, while arriving quickly, feels well-deserved because the show prioritizes giving Aziraphale and Crowley a satisfying conclusion. Some other parts of the story are minimized to make this happen. The final scenes occasionally become overly sentimental, but after a long wait, that’s easily overlooked.
The ending of Good Omens really deserved a better send-off, but considering how many shows are being cancelled these days, it’s good that it got an ending at all. As one of the characters might say, it provides a neat and fitting conclusion, and we’ll have to accept that as enough.
The third season of Good Omens will premiere on Prime Video on May 13, 2026. You can start a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime to watch it.
