With the conclusion of NCIS season 23 on CBS, fans are now wondering what’s next for the popular and long-running show.

The popular NCIS franchise is still going strong, with new seasons of its spin-offs, NCIS: Origins and NCIS Sydney, already planned. Plus, a brand new series, NCIS: New York, is set to premiere later this year.

Will there be a 24th season of the show? If so, which cast members might return, and when could we expect to see the new episodes?

Will there be an NCIS season 24?

Good news for fans! I’m happy to report that NCIS is officially coming back for a 24th season, confirmed back in January 2026. They were actually on a break during their 23rd season when the renewal was announced, but it’s great to know the team will be returning.

When might NCIS season 24 be released?

It’s still unclear when NCIS season 24 will premiere, but we expect it to follow the pattern of previous seasons. The last season started airing on CBS in October, and the one before that also debuted around the same time of year.

We would therefore expect the new season to start airing stateside in October 2026.

It’s harder to say when Season 23 will be available in the UK. Season 22 premiered over a year ago, but it still hasn’t arrived on Disney+ in the UK. Once Season 23 is released, we’ll likely have a better idea of when Season 24 might come out.

Who might return to star in NCIS season 24?

It’s still unclear who will be in the cast for season 24 of NCIS, but we anticipate most of the main actors from season 23 will return, including Gary Cole (as Alden Parker), Katrina Law (as Jessica Knight), and Sean Murray (as Timothy McGee).

Rocky Carroll, who played Leon Vance, probably won’t be returning to the show, except possibly in brief flashback scenes. His character was unexpectedly killed off during the 500th episode, making a full-time return very unlikely.
